| 2 | 這人 夜裡 來見 耶穌， 說：「拉比，我們知道 你是由 神 那裡來作 師傅的；因為 你 所 行的 神蹟，若沒有 神 同在，無人 能 行。」 | The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. |
| 3 | 耶穌 回答 說：「我實實在在地 告訴 你，人 若不 重 生，就不能 見 神 的國。」 | Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. |
| 4 | 尼哥底母 說：「人 已經 老了，如何 能 重生呢？豈能 再進 母 腹 生出來嗎？」 | Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? |
| 5 | 耶穌 說：「我實實在在地 告訴 你，人 若不是 從 水 和 聖靈 生的，就不能 進 神 的國。 | Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. |
| 6 | 從 肉身 生的 就是 肉身； 從 靈 生的 就是 靈。 | That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. |
| 7 | 我說：『你們 必須 重 生』，你 不要 以為 希奇。 | Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. |
| 8 | 風 隨著 意思 吹， 你聽見 風的 響聲，卻 不 曉得 從哪裡 來， 往哪裡 去；凡 從 聖靈 生的，也 是如此。」 | The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. |

| 11 | 我實實在在地 告訴 你，我們所說的 是 我們知道的； 我們所見證的 是 我們見過的； 你們卻不 領受 我們的 見證。 | Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. |
| 12 | 我對你們 說 地上的事， 你們尚且不 信，若 說 天上的事，如何 能信呢？ | If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? |
| 13 | 除了 從 天 降下、 仍舊在天的人 子，沒有人 升過 天。 | And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. |
| 14 | 摩西 在 曠野 怎樣舉 蛇，人 子 也 必 照樣 被舉起來， | And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: |
| 15 | 叫一切 信 他 的都得 永 生（或譯：叫一切信的人在他裡面得永生）。 | That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. |
| 16 | 「 神 愛 世人，甚至 將他的獨生 子 賜給他們，叫 一切 信 他的，不 致滅亡，反 得 永 生。 | For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. |
| 17 | 因為 神 差 他的兒子 降 世，不是 要定 世人的罪（或譯：審判世人；下同），乃是 要 叫世人 因 他 得救。 | For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. |
| 18 | 信 他的人，不 被定罪； 不 信的人，罪已經 定了，因為 他不 信 神 獨生 子 的名。 | He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. |
| 19 | 光 來到 世間， 世人 因 自己的 行為 是 惡的，不愛光，倒 愛 黑暗，定他們的罪 就是在此。 | And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. |
| 20 | 凡 作 惡的 便恨 光，並 不來 就 光，恐怕 他的 行為 受責備。 | For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. |
| 21 | 但 行 真理 的必來 就 光，要 顯明 他 所行的 是 靠 神 而行。」 | But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. |
| 22 | 這事 以後，耶穌 和 門徒 到了 猶太 地， 在那裡 居住， 施洗。 | After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized. |
| 23 | 約翰 在 靠近 撒冷 的哀嫩 也 施洗；因為 那裡 水 多， 眾人都去 受洗。 | And John also was baptizing in Ænon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized. |
| 24 | （那時約翰 還沒有 下在 監裡。） | For John was not yet cast into prison. |
| 25 | 約翰 的 門徒 和一個猶太人 辯論 潔淨的禮， | Then there arose a question between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purifying. |
| 26 | 就 來 見 約翰， 說：「拉比， 從前同 你 在 約旦河 外、你 所見證 的那位， 現在施洗， 眾人 都往 他 那裡去了。」 | And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him. |
| 27 | 約翰 說：「若 不是 從 天上 賜的，人 就不能 得 甚麼。 | John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. |
| 28 | 我曾說：『我 不是 基督， 是 奉差遣 在他 前面的』，你們 自己 可以給我 作見證。 | Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. |
| 29 | 娶 新婦 的就是 新郎； 新郎 的朋友 站著， 聽見 新郎的 聲音 就甚 喜樂。故此，我 這 喜樂 滿足了。 | He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. |
| 30 | 他 必 興旺， 我 必衰微。」 | He must increase, but I must decrease. |
| 31 | 「從天上 來的 是 在萬有 之上；從 地上 來 的是 屬乎地， 他所說的 也是屬乎 地。從 天上 來的 是在 萬有 之上。 | He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. |
| 32 | 他將所見 所聞 的 見證出來， 只是沒有人 領受 他的 見證。 | And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. |
| 33 | 那領受 他 見證的，就印上印，證明 神 是 真的。 | He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. |
| 34 | 神 所差來的 就說 神 的話，因為 神賜 聖靈 給他是沒有 限量的。 | For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. |
| 35 | 父 愛 子， 已將萬有 交在 他 手裡。 | The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. |
| 36 | 信 子 的人有 永 生； 不信 子 的人得不著 永生（原文是不得見永生）， 神 的震怒 常在 他身上。」 | He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. |
