1 有一個 患病的人，名叫拉撒路，住在 伯大尼， 就是馬利亞 和 她 姊姊 馬大 的村莊。 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 這 馬利亞 就是 那 用香膏 抹 主，又 用 頭髮 擦 他 腳的；患病 的拉撒路 是她 的兄弟。 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 她姊妹 兩個就打發 人去見 耶穌，說：「主 啊，你所愛 的人 病了。」 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 耶穌 聽見，就說：「這 病 不 至 於 死，乃 是為 神 的榮耀，叫 神 的兒子 因此 得榮耀。」 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5 耶穌 素來 愛 馬大 和 她 妹子 並 拉撒路。 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 聽 見 拉撒路病了，就 在 所 居 之地 仍 住了 兩 天。 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 然後 對門徒 說：「我們再 往 猶太 去吧。」 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judea again.
8 門徒 說：「拉比，猶太人 近來 要拿 石頭打 你， 你還 往那裡 去嗎？」 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
9 耶穌 回答說：「白日 不 是有 十二 小時嗎？人 在 白日 走路，就不 至跌倒，因為 看見 這 世 上的光。 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
10 若 在 黑夜 走路，就必跌倒，因為 他 沒 有 光。」 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
11 耶穌說了 這話，隨 後 對他們 說：「我們 的朋友 拉撒路 睡了， 我去 叫醒 他。」 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 門徒 說：「主啊，他若 睡了，就必好了。」 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13 耶穌 這話是指著 他 死 說的，他們 卻 以為 是 說 照常 睡了。 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14 耶穌 就 明明地 告訴 他們說：「拉撒路 死了。 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 我沒 有在 那裡 就歡喜，這是為 你們的緣故，好 叫 你們相信。如今 我們可以往 他 那裡去吧。」 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
16 多馬，又 稱為 低土馬，就對那同作門徒 的說：「我們 也 去 和 他 同 死吧。」 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
17 耶穌 到了，就知道 拉撒路 在 墳墓 裡已經 四 天了。 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18 伯大尼 離 耶路撒冷 不遠，約 有六里 路。 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
19 有好些 猶太人 來 看 馬大 和 馬利亞，要 為 她們的兄弟 安慰 她們。 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 馬大 聽見 耶穌 來了，就出去迎接 他；馬利亞 卻 仍然坐 在 家裡。 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
21 馬大 對 耶穌 說：「主啊，你若 早在 這裡，我 兄弟 必不 死。 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 就是 現在，我也知道， 你無論向 神 求甚麼， 神 也必賜給 你。」 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
23 耶穌 說：「你 兄弟 必然復活。」 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 馬大 說：「我知道 在 末 日 復活 的時候，他必復活。」 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 耶穌 對她 說：「復活 在 我，生命 也在我。信 我 的人雖然 死了，也必復活； Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 凡 活著 信 我 的人必永遠 不 死。你信 這話嗎？」 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 馬大說：「主啊，是的，我 信 你 是 基督，是 神 的兒子，就是 那要臨 到 世界的。」 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
28 馬大說了 這話，就回去 暗暗地 叫 她 妹子 馬利亞，說：「夫子 來了， 叫 你。」 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
29 馬利亞 聽見了，就急忙 起來， 到 耶穌 那裡去。 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
30 那時，耶穌 還沒 有進 村子，仍 在 馬大 迎接 他 的地方。 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 那些 同 馬利亞 在 家 裡 安慰 她 的猶太人，見 她 急忙 起來 出去，就跟著 她，以為 她要往 墳墓 那裡 去 哭。 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
32 馬利亞 到了 耶穌 那裡，看見 他，就俯伏 在 他 腳前，說：「主啊，你若 早在 這裡，我 兄弟 必 不 死。」 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
33 耶穌 看見 她 哭，並 看見與她 同來 的猶太人 也哭，就心 裡悲歎，又 甚憂愁， When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
34 便 說：「你們把他 安放 在哪裡？」他們回答說：「請主 來 看。」 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 耶穌 哭了。 Jesus wept.
36 猶太人 就說：「你看 他愛 這人 是何等懇切。」 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
37 其中 有人 說：「他 既然開了 瞎子 的眼睛，豈 不 能 叫 這人 不 死嗎？」 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38 耶穌 又 心裡 悲歎，來 到 墳墓前；那 墳墓是 個洞， 有一塊石頭 擋著。 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 耶穌 說：「你們把石頭 挪開。」那死人 的姊姊 馬大 對他 說：「主啊，他現在 必是臭了，因為 他死了已經 四天了。」 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
40 耶穌 說：「我 不 是對你說過， 你若 信，就必看見 神 的榮耀嗎？」 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 他們就把石頭 挪開。 耶穌 舉 目望天，說：「父啊，我感謝 你， 因為你已經聽 我。 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 我 也 知道 你常 聽 我，但 我說 這話是為 周圍站著 的眾人，叫 他們信 是 你 差了 我來。」 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 說了這話，就大 聲 呼叫說：「拉撒路 出 來！」 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 那死人 就出來了，手 腳 裹著 布， 臉 上包著 手巾。耶穌 對他們 說：「解開， 叫他 走！」 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
45 那些 來 看 馬利亞 的 猶太人 見了 耶穌所 做的事，就多有信 他的； Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
46 但 其中 也有去 見 法利賽人的， 將耶穌 所做 的事 告訴 他們。 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 祭司長 和 法利賽人 聚集 公會， 說：「 這 人 行 好些 神蹟，我們怎麼 辦呢？ Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 若 這樣 由著 他，人人 都要信 他， 羅馬人 也要來 奪 我們 的地土 和 我們的百姓。」 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
49 內中 有一個人，名叫該亞法，本 年 作 大祭司，對他們 說：「你們 不知道 甚麼。 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 獨不想 一 個人 替 百姓 死， 免得 通 國 滅亡，就是 你們 的益處。」 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 他這 話 不 是出於 自己，是 因他本 年 作 大祭司，所以預言 耶穌 將要 替這 一國 死； And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 也 不 但 替 這 一國死， 並要將 神 四散 的子民 都聚集 歸 一。 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
53 從 那 日起，他們就商議 要 殺 耶穌。 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
54 所以，耶穌 不再 顯然 行 在猶太人 中間，就 離開 那裡 往 靠近 曠野 的地方去，到了 一座城，名叫 以法蓮，就在那裡 和門徒 同 住。 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
55 猶太人 的逾越節 近了， 有許多 人從 鄉 下上 耶路撒冷 去，要在節 前 潔淨 自己。 And the Jews’ passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 他們就尋找 耶穌， 站 在殿 裡 彼此 說：「你們 的意思 如何， 他不 來 過 節嗎？」 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 那時，祭司長 和 法利賽人 早已 吩咐 說，若 有人 知道 耶穌在 哪裡，就要報明，好 去拿 他。 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.
