| 2 | 「我 現在要走 世人 必走的路。所以，你當剛強，作 大丈夫， | I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; |
| 3 | 遵守 耶和華─你 神 所吩咐的，照著摩西 律法 上所寫 的行 主的道，謹守 他的律例、誡命、典章、法度。這樣， 你無論 做 甚麼事， 不拘 往何 處 去，盡都亨通。 | And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself: |
| 4 | 耶和華 必成就 向我 所 應許 的話 說：『你的子孫 若 謹慎 自己的行為，盡 心 盡 意 誠誠實實 地行 在我面前， 就不 斷 人 坐 以色列 的國位。』 | That the Lord may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel. |
| 5 | 你 知道 洗魯雅 的兒子 約押 向我 所 行的，就是 殺了 以色列 的兩 個元帥：尼珥 的兒子 押尼珥 和益帖 的兒子 亞瑪撒。他在太平 之時流 這二人的血，如在爭戰之時一樣，將這 血 染了 腰 間束的 帶 和腳 上穿的 鞋。 | Moreover thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet. |
| 6 | 所以你要照你的智慧 行，不容 他白頭 安然 下 陰間。 | Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace. |
| 7 | 你當恩 待 基列人 巴西萊 的眾子，使他們 常與你同席 吃飯；因為 我躲避 你哥哥 押沙龍的時候，他們拿食物 來迎接 我。 | But shew kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother. |
| 8 | 在你 這裡有巴戶琳的 便雅憫 人，基拉 的兒子 示每；我往瑪哈念 去 的那日，他 用狠毒 的言語 咒罵我， 後來卻下 約旦河 迎接我，我就指著耶和華 向他 起誓 說：『我必 不用刀 殺你。』 | And, behold, thou hast with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the Lord, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword. |
| 9 | 現在 你不要 以他為無罪。 你是 聰明 人，必知道 怎樣 待 他，使 他白頭見殺，流血 下到 陰間。」 | Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his hoar head bring thou down to the grave with blood. |

| 11 | 大衛 作 以色列 王 四十 年：在希伯崙 作王 七 年，在耶路撒冷 作王 三十 三 年。 | And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem. |

| 15 | 亞多尼雅說：「你 知道 國 原是 歸我的，以色列 眾人 也都仰望 我 作王，不料，國 反 歸了 我兄弟，因 他 得國是 出乎耶和華。 | And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign: howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother’s: for it was his from the Lord. |
| 16 | 現在 我 有一 件事 求 你，望你不要 推辭。」拔示巴說：「你說吧。」 | And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not. And she said unto him, Say on. |
| 17 | 他說：「求 你請 所羅門 王 將 書念 的女子亞比煞 賜 我 為妻，因 他必不 推辭 你。」 | And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say thee nay,) that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife. |
| 18 | 拔示巴 說：「好，我 必為你 對 王 提說。」 | And Bath–sheba said, Well; I will speak for thee unto the king. |
| 19 | 於是，拔示巴 去 見 所羅門 王，要為 亞多尼雅 提說；王 起來 迎接，向她 下拜，就坐 在 位上，吩咐人為王 母 設 一座位，她便坐 在王的右邊。 | Bath–sheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand. |
| 20 | 拔示巴說：「我 有一件 小 事 求 你，望你不要 推辭。」王 說：「請母親 說， 我必不 推辭。」 | Then she said, I desire one small petition of thee; I pray thee, say me not nay. And the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay. |
| 21 | 拔示巴說：「求你將 書念 的女子亞比煞 賜 給你哥哥 亞多尼雅 為妻。」 | And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife. |
| 22 | 所羅門 王 對他母親 說：「 為何 單替他 求 書念 的女子亞比煞呢？也可以為他 求 國吧！ 他是 我的 哥哥，他有 祭司 亞比亞他 和洗魯雅 的兒子 約押為輔佐。」 | And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah. |
| 23 | 所羅門 王 就指著耶和華 起誓 說：「亞多尼雅 這 話 是 自己送命，不然，願 神 重重地 降 罰 與我。 | Then king Solomon sware by the Lord, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life. |
| 24 | 耶和華 堅立我，使我坐 在 父親 大衛 的位上， 照著所 應許 的話為我 建立 家室；現在 我指著永生 的耶和華起誓，亞多尼雅 今日 必 被治死。」 | Now therefore, as the Lord liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day. |
| 25 | 於是所羅門 王 差遣 耶何耶大 的兒子 比拿雅，將亞多尼雅 殺 死。 | And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died. |
| 26 | 王 對祭司 亞比亞他 說：「你回 亞拿突 歸 自己的田地去吧！你 本是 該死 的，但因 你在我父親 大衛 面前 抬過 主 耶和華 的約櫃，又 與我父親 同受 一切 苦難，所以我今 日 不 將你殺死。」 | And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the Lord God before David my father, and because thou hast been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted. |
| 27 | 所羅門 就革除 亞比亞他，不許他作 耶和華的 祭司。這樣，便應驗 耶和華 在示羅 論 以利 家 所 說 的話。 | So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the Lord; that he might fulfil the word of the Lord, which he spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh. |
| 28 | 約押 雖然沒有 歸 從 押沙龍，卻 歸 從了 亞多尼雅。他 聽見這 風聲， 就逃 到 耶和華 的帳幕，抓 住祭壇 的角。 | Then tidings came to Joab: for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he turned not after Absalom. And Joab fled unto the tabernacle of the Lord, and caught hold on the horns of the altar. |
| 29 | 有人告訴 所羅門 王說：「 約押 逃 到 耶和華 的帳幕，現今 在祭壇 的旁邊。」所羅門 就差遣 耶何耶大 的兒子 比拿雅，說：「你去 將他 殺死。」 | And it was told king Solomon that Joab was fled unto the tabernacle of the Lord; and, behold, he is by the altar. Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, Go, fall upon him. |
| 30 | 比拿雅 來 到 耶和華 的帳幕，對約押 說：「王吩咐 說，你出來吧！」他說：「我不出去， 我要死 在這裡。」比拿雅 就去回覆 王，說 約押 如此 如此 回答我。 | And Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the Lord, and said unto him, Thus saith the king, Come forth. And he said, Nay; but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me. |
| 31 | 王 說：「你可以照著 他的話 行，殺 死他，將他葬埋，好叫約押 流 無辜 人血 的罪 不歸 我 和 我的父 家了。 | And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from me, and from the house of my father. |
| 32 | 耶和華 必使 約押流人血 的罪歸 到 他自己的頭上；因為他 用刀 殺了 兩個 比他 又義 又好 的人，就是 以色列 元帥 尼珥 的兒子 押尼珥 和 猶大 元帥 益帖 的兒子 亞瑪撒，我父親 大衛 卻不 知道。 | And the Lord shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to wit, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah. |
| 33 | 故此，流這二人血 的罪必歸 到約押 和他後裔 的頭上，直到永遠；惟有大衛 和他的後裔，並他的家 與國，必從 耶和華 那裡得 平安，直到 永遠。」 | Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the Lord. |
| 34 | 於是耶何耶大 的兒子 比拿雅 上去， 將約押 殺死，葬 在曠野約押自己的墳墓（原文是房屋）裡。 | So Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and slew him: and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness. |
| 35 | 王 就立 耶何耶大 的兒子 比拿雅 作 元帥，代替約押， 又 使 祭司 撒督 代替 亞比亞他。 | And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the host: and Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of Abiathar. |
| 36 | 王 差遣 人將示每 召來，對他 說：「你要在耶路撒冷 建造 房屋 居住，不可 出來 往別 處去。 | And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Build thee an house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth thence any whither. |
| 37 | 你當 確實地 知道， 你何日 出來 過 汲淪 溪，何日必 死！你的罪（原文是血）必歸 到自己的頭上。」 | For it shall be, that on the day thou goest out, and passest over the brook Kidron, thou shalt know for certain that thou shalt surely die: thy blood shall be upon thine own head. |
| 38 | 示每 對王 說：「這話 甚好！我主 我王 怎樣 說，僕人 必怎樣 行。」於是示每 多 日 住 在耶路撒冷。 | And Shimei said unto the king, The saying is good: as my lord the king hath said, so will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days. |
| 39 | 過了 三 年，示每的 兩個 僕人 逃 到 迦特 王 瑪迦 的兒子 亞吉那裡去。有人告訴 示每 說：「 你的僕人 在迦特。」 | And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, Behold, thy servants be in Gath. |
| 40 | 示每 起來，備 上 驢，往 迦特 到 亞吉 那裡去找 他的僕人， 就從迦特 帶 他僕人回來。 | And Shimei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his servants: and Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath. |
| 41 | 有人告訴 所羅門說：「示每 出耶路撒冷 往迦特 去，回來了。」 | And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and was come again. |
| 42 | 王 就差遣 人將示每 召了來，對他 說：「我豈不是 叫你指著耶和華 起誓，並且警戒 你 說『你當確實地 知道， 你哪日 出來 往別 處 去，那日必 死』嗎？你也對我 說：『這話 甚好，我必聽從。』 | And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee to swear by the Lord, and protested unto thee, saying, Know for a certain, on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any whither, that thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me, The word that I have heard is good. |
| 43 | 現在你為何 不 遵守 你指著耶和華 起的誓 和 我所 吩咐 你 的命令呢？」 | Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the Lord, and the commandment that I have charged thee with? |
| 44 | 王 又對 示每 說：「你 向我父親 大衛 所 行 的一切 惡事， 你自己 心 裡也知道，所以耶和華 必使 你的罪惡 歸 到自己的頭上； | The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou didst to David my father: therefore the Lord shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head; |
| 45 | 惟有所羅門 王 必得福，並且大衛 的國位 必 在耶和華 面前 堅定，直到 永遠。」 | And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord for ever. |
| 46 | 於是王 吩咐 耶何耶大 的兒子 比拿雅，他就去 殺 死 示每。這樣，便堅定了 所羅門 的國位。 | So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; which went out, and fell upon him, that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon. |
