1 約西亞 登基 的時候年 八 歲，在耶路撒冷 作王 三十 一 年。 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.
2 他行 耶和華 眼中 看為正的事，效法他祖 大衛 所行的，不 偏 左 右。 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.
3 他作王 第八 年， 尚且 年幼，就 尋求 他祖 大衛的 神。到了十 二 年 才 潔淨 猶大 和耶路撒冷，除掉 邱壇、木偶、雕刻的像，和鑄造的像。 For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
4 眾人在他面前 拆毀 巴力 的壇，砍斷 壇上 高高的 日像，又把木偶 和雕刻的像，並鑄造的像 打碎 成灰，撒 在 祭 偶像 人的墳 上， And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.
5 將他們祭司 的骸骨 燒 在 壇上，潔淨了 猶大 和 耶路撒冷； And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.
6 又在瑪拿西、以法蓮、西緬、 拿弗他利 各城，和四圍 破壞之處，都這樣行； And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.
7 又拆毀 祭壇，把 木偶 和雕刻的像 打碎 成灰，砍斷 以色列 遍 地 所有的 日像，就回 耶路撒冷去了。 And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.
8 約西亞王 十 八 年，淨 地 淨殿之後，就差遣 亞薩利雅 的兒子 沙番、 邑 宰 瑪西雅、 約哈斯 的兒子 史官 約亞 去修理 耶和華─他 神 的殿。 Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the Lord his God.
9 他們就去 見 大 祭司 希勒家，將 奉到 神 殿 的銀子 交給他；這銀子 是看守 殿門 的利未人 從 瑪拿西、以法蓮，和一切 以色列 剩下的人，以及猶大、便雅憫 眾人，並耶路撒冷 的居民 收來的。 And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.
10 又將這銀子交 給 耶和華 殿 裡督 工的，轉交 修 理 耶和華 殿 的 工 匠， And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the Lord, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the Lord, to repair and amend the house:
11 就是交 給木匠、石匠，買 鑿成的 石頭 和架木 與棟 樑，修 猶大 王 所 毀壞 的殿。 Even to the artificers and builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
12 這些人 辦 事 誠實，督工的 是利未人 米拉利 的 子孫 雅哈、俄巴底；督催的 是哥轄 的 子孫 撒迦利亞、米書蘭；還有 善於 作 樂 的利未人。 And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and other of the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.
13 他們又監管 扛抬的人，督催 一切 做 工的。利未人 中也有作書記、作司事、作守門的。 Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.
14 他們將奉到 耶和華 殿 的銀子 運出來的時候，祭司 希勒家 偶然得了 摩西所傳 耶和華 的律法 書。 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the Lord given by Moses.
15 希勒家 對 書記 沙番 說：「我在耶和華 殿裡 得了 律法 書。」 遂將 書 遞 給 沙番。 And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
16 沙番 把 書 拿到 王那裡，回 覆 王 說：「凡 交 給 僕人們辦的都 辦理了。 And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do it.
17 耶和華 殿 裡的 銀子 倒出來，交 給 督工 的和 匠 人 的手裡了。」 And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.
18 書記 沙番 又 對王 說：「祭司 希勒家 遞 給我 一卷書。」沙番 就在王 面前 讀 那書。 Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
19 王 聽見 律法 上的話，就撕裂 衣服， And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.
20 吩咐 希勒家 與 沙番 的兒子 亞希甘、 米迦 的兒子 亞比頓、 書記 沙番，和 王 的臣僕 亞撒雅 說： And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king’s, saying,
21 「你們去 為我、為 以色列 和猶大 剩下的人，以這 書上 的話 求問 耶和華；因 我們列祖 沒有 遵守 耶和華 的言語，沒有照 這 書 上 所 記 的去行， 耶和華 的烈怒 就 倒 在我們身上。」 Go, enquire of the Lord for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord, to do after all that is written in this book.
22 於是，希勒家 和王 所 派的眾人都去 見 女先知 戶勒大。戶勒大是掌管 禮服 沙龍 的妻，沙龍是哈斯拉 的孫子、特瓦 的兒子。戶勒大 住 在耶路撒冷 第二區；他們請問 於她。 And Hilkiah, and they that the king had appointed, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college:) and they spake to her to that effect.
23 她對他們 說：「耶和華─以色列的 神 如此 說：『你們可以回覆 那 差遣 你們 來見我 的人說， And she answered them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me,
24 耶和華 如此 說：我 必照著在猶大 王 面前 所 讀 那書 上的 一切 咒詛，降 禍 與 這 地 和 其上的居民； Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
25 因為 他們離棄我，向別 神 燒香，用 他們手 所做的 惹我發怒，所以我的忿怒 如火倒 在這 地上，總不 熄滅。』 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.
26 然而 差遣 你們 來求問 耶和華 的猶大 王，你們要這樣 回覆他 說：『耶和華─以色列的 神 如此 說：至於你所 聽見 的話， And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the Lord, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard;
27 就是聽見 我指著 這 地 和 其上居民 所說的話，你便心裡 敬服，在我 面前 自卑，撕裂 衣服，向我 哭泣， 因此我 應允了你。這是我─耶和華 說的。 Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the Lord.
28 我 必使你平平安安地 歸 到 墳墓， 到 你列祖那裡， 我 要降 與 這 地 和 其上居民 的一切 災禍，你也不致 親眼 看見。』」他們就回 覆 王去了。 Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.
29 王 差遣人 招聚 猶大 和耶路撒冷 的眾 長老來。 Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
30 王 和猶大 眾 人，與耶路撒冷 的居民，並祭司 利未人，以及所有的 百姓，無論大 小，都一同上到 耶和華 的殿；王就把 殿裡 所得的 約 書 念 給他們聽。 And the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the Lord.
31 王 站 在 他的地位上，在耶和華 面前 立 約，要盡 心 盡 性 地順 從 耶和華，遵守 他的誡命、法度、律例，成就 這 書 上 所記 的約 言； And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.
32 又使 住 耶路撒冷 和便雅憫 的人都 服從這約。於是耶路撒冷 的居民 都遵行 他們列祖之 神 的約。 And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
33 約西亞 從以色列 各 處 將 一切 可憎之物 盡都除掉， 使 以色列境內的 人 都 事奉 耶和華─他們的 神。約西亞在世的日子，就跟從 耶和華─他們列祖的 神，總不 離開。 And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the Lord their God. And all his days they departed not from following the Lord, the God of their fathers.
