1 這 虔誠 的事 以後，亞述 王 西拿基立 來 侵入 猶大，圍困 一切堅固 城，想要 攻破佔據。 After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.
2 希西家 見 西拿基立 來，定意 要攻打 耶路撒冷， And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,
3 就與 首領 和勇士 商議，塞住 城 外 的 泉 源；他們就都幫助他。 He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.
4 於是有許多 人 聚集，塞了 一切 泉源，並 通流 國 中 的小河，說：「亞述 王 來，為何 讓他得著 許多 水呢？」 So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?
5 希西家力圖自強，就修築 所有 拆毀 的城牆，高 與城樓 相齊；在城外 又 築一城，堅固 大衛 城 的米羅，製造了 許多 軍器、盾牌； Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.
6 設立 軍 長 管理 百姓，將他們招聚 在 城 門 的寬闊處，用話 勉勵他們，說： And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,
7 「你們當剛強 壯膽，不要 因 亞述 王 和 跟隨他 的大 軍 恐懼、 驚慌；因為 與我們同在的，比與他們同在的 更大。 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
8 與他們同在 的是肉 臂，與我們同在 的是耶和華─我們的 神，他必幫助我們，為我們爭 戰。」百姓 就靠 猶大 王 希西家 的話，安然無懼了。 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9 此 後，亞述 王 西拿基立 和他 的全 軍 攻打 拉吉，就差遣 臣僕 到耶路撒冷 見 猶大 王 希西家 和 一切 在耶路撒冷 的 猶大人，說： After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,
10 「亞述 王 西拿基立 如此 說：『你們 倚靠 甚麼，還 在耶路撒冷 受困呢？ Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?
11 希西家 對你們說「耶和華─我們的 神 必救我們 脫離亞述 王 的手」，這不是 誘惑 你們，使 你們 受飢 渴 而死嗎？ Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The Lord our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
12 這 希西家 豈不是 廢去 耶和華的邱壇 和 祭壇，吩咐 猶大 與耶路撒冷 的人說「你們當在一個 壇 前 敬拜，在其上 燒香」嗎？ Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?
13 我 與我列祖 向列 邦 所 行的，你們豈不 知道嗎？列邦 的神 何嘗 能 救 自己的國 脫離我手呢？ Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
14 我列祖 所 滅的 國，那些 神 中誰 能 救 自己的民 脫離我手呢？難道 你們的神 能 救 你們 脫離我手嗎？ Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
15 所以 你們不要 叫希西家 這樣 欺哄 誘惑 你們，也不要 信 他；因為 沒有 一 國 一 邦 的神 能 救 自己的民 脫離我手 和我列祖 的手，何況 你們的神 更 不能 救 你們 脫離我的手。』」 Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
16 西拿基立的臣僕 還有 別的話 毀謗 耶和華 神 和 他僕人 希西家。 And his servants spake yet more against the Lord God, and against his servant Hezekiah.
17 西拿基立也寫 信 毀謗 耶和華─以色列的 神 說：「列邦 的神 既 不能 救 他的民 脫離我手，希西家 的神 也 不能 救 他的民 脫離我手了。」 He wrote also letters to rail on the Lord God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
18 亞述王的臣僕用猶大言語 向 耶路撒冷 城 上 的 民 大 聲 呼叫，要驚嚇他們，擾亂他們，以便 取 城。 Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
19 他們論 耶路撒冷的 神，如同論 世上 人 手 所造 的神一樣。 And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.
20 希西家 王 和亞摩斯 的兒子 先知 以賽亞 因 此 禱告，向天 呼求。 And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
21 耶和華 就差遣 一個使者 進入亞述 王 營中，把所有 大能的 勇士 和官長、將帥 盡都滅了。亞述王滿面 含羞地 回 到本國，進了 他神 的廟中，有他親生的 兒子 在那裡 用刀 殺了他。 And the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.
22 這樣，耶和華 救 希西家 和 耶路撒冷 的居民 脫離亞述 王 西拿基立 的手，也脫離一切 仇敵的手，又賜他們四境 平安。 Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.
23 有許多人 到耶路撒冷，將供物 獻 與耶和華，又將寶物 送給猶大 王 希西家。此 後，希西家在列 邦人 的眼中 看為尊大。 And many brought gifts unto the Lord to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.
24 那 時 希西家 病 得要 死，就禱告 耶和華，耶和華 應允 他，賜 他 一個兆頭。 In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the Lord: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.
25 希西家 卻沒有 照他 所蒙的恩 報答耶和華；因 他心裡 驕傲，所以忿怒 要臨 到他 和 猶大 並耶路撒冷。 But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
26 但希西家 和耶路撒冷 的居民 覺得心裡 驕傲，就一同自卑，以致耶和華 的忿怒 在希西家 的日子 沒有 臨 到他們。 Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
27 希西家 大 有 尊榮 資財，建造 府庫，收藏金 銀、寶 石、香料、盾牌，和各樣的 寶 器， And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
28 又建造倉房，收藏 五穀、新酒，和油，又為各 類 牲 畜 蓋棚 立圈； Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.
29 並且建立 城邑，還有許多的 羊 群 牛群，因為 神 賜 他 極 多 的財產。 Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
30 這 希西家 也塞住 基訓 的上 源，引水直 下，流在大衛 城 的西邊。希西家 所行的事 盡都 亨通。 This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31 惟有一件事，就是巴比倫 王 差遣 使者 來見希西家，訪問 國中 所 現 的奇事；這件事 神 離開他，要試驗他，好知道 他心內如何。 Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
32 希西家 其餘的 事 和他的善行 都 寫 在亞摩斯 的兒子 先知 以賽亞 的默示書 上和 猶大、以色列 的諸王 記上。 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33 希西家 與 他列祖 同睡，葬 在大衛 子孫 的高 陵上。他死的時候，猶大人 和耶路撒冷 的居民 都 尊敬 他。他兒子 瑪拿西 接續他 作王。 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
