| 7 | 耶和華 卻因 自己與大衛 所 立 的約，不 肯 滅 大衛 的家，照他所 應許的，永遠 賜 燈光 與大衛 和他的子孫。 | Howbeit the Lord would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever. |
| 8 | 約蘭年間，以東人 背叛 猶大，脫離 他的權下，自己 立 王。 | In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king. |
| 9 | 約蘭 就率領 軍長 和 所有的 戰車， 夜間 起來，攻擊 圍困 他 的以東人 和 車兵 長。 | Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots. |

| 12 | 先知 以利亞 達 信 與 約蘭說：「耶和華─你祖 大衛的 神 如此 說：『因為 你不 行 你父 約沙法 和猶大 王 亞撒 的道， | And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the Lord God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah, |
| 13 | 乃行 以色列 諸王 的道，使 猶大人 和 耶路撒冷 的居民 行邪淫，像亞哈 家一樣，又 殺了 你父 家 比你 好的 諸兄弟。 | But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father’s house, which were better than thyself: |
| 14 | 故此， 耶和華 降 大 災 與你的百姓 和你的妻子、兒女，並你一切 所有的。 | Behold, with a great plague will the Lord smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods: |
| 15 | 你的腸子 必患病，日 加 沉重，以致 你的腸子 墜落下來。』」 | And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day. |
| 16 | 以後，耶和華 激動 非利士人 和靠近 古實 的 阿拉伯人 來攻擊 約蘭。 | Moreover the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians: |
| 17 | 他們上來 攻擊猶大，侵入境內，擄掠了 王 宮 裡所有的 財貨 和他的妻子、 兒女，除了 他小 兒子 約哈斯（又名亞哈謝）之外，沒有 留下 一個兒子。 | And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons. |
| 18 | 這些 事以後，耶和華 使約蘭的腸子 患 不能 醫治 的病。 | And after all this the Lord smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease. |
| 19 | 他患此病 纏綿 日久， 過了 二 年，腸子 墜落下來，病 重 而死。他的民 沒有 為他 燒甚麼物件，像從前為他列祖 所燒的一樣。 | And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers. |
| 20 | 約蘭登基 的時候年 三十 二歲，在耶路撒冷 作王 八 年。他去世 無人 思慕，眾人葬 他在大衛 城，只是不 在列王 的墳墓裡。 | Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings. |
