1 參孫 下 到亭拿，在那裡 看見 一個女子，是非利士人 的女兒。 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.
2 參孫上來 稟告 他父 母 說：「我在亭拿 看見 一個女子，是非利士人 的女兒，願 你們給我 娶來 為妻。」 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.
3 他父 母 說：「在你弟兄 的女兒中，或在 本國的民中，豈沒有 一個女子，何致 你 去 在未受割禮的 非利士人中 娶 妻呢？」參孫 對 他父親 說：「願你給我 娶 那女子，因 我 喜悅她。」 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.
4 他的父 母 卻不 知道 這事是 出於耶和華，因為 他找 機會 攻擊非利士人。那 時，非利士人 轄制 以色列人。 But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
5 參孫 跟他父 母 下 亭拿 去，到了 亭拿 的葡萄園，見 有一隻少壯 獅子 向他 吼叫。 Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him.
6 耶和華 的靈 大大 感動參孫，他雖然手 無 器械，卻將獅子撕裂，如同撕裂 山羊羔一樣。他行 這事 並沒有 告訴 父 母。 And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
7 參孫下 去 與女子 說話，就喜悅她； And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well.
8 過了些日子，再 下去要娶那女子，轉向 道旁要看 死 獅，見 有一群 蜂子 和蜜 在死 獅之內， And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcase of the lion.
9 就用 手 取蜜， 且吃 且走；到了 父 母那裡，給 他父母，他們也吃了；只是沒有 告訴 這蜜 是從死 獅 之內取來的。 And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion.
10 他父親 下去 見 女子。參孫 在那裡 設擺 筵宴，因為 向來 少年人 都有這個規矩。 So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.
11 眾人看見 參孫，就請了 三十 個人陪伴 他。 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.
12 參孫 對他們 說：「 我給你們 出 一個謎語，你們在七 日 筵宴之內，若 能 猜出 意思 告訴我，我就給 你們 三十 件裡衣，三十 套 衣裳； And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:
13 你們若 不 能 猜出意思告訴 我，你們 就給 我 三十 件裡衣，三十 套 衣裳。」他們說：「請將謎語 說給 我們聽。」 But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it.
14 參孫對他們 說：吃的 從吃者 出來；甜的 從強者 出來。他們三 日 不 能 猜出 謎語的意思。 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
15 到第七 天，他們對參孫 的妻 說：「你誆哄 你丈夫，探出 謎語 的意思告訴 我們，免得 我們用火 燒 你 和 你父 家。你們請了 我們來，是要奪我們所有的 嗎？」 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so?
16 參孫的 妻 在 丈夫面前啼哭 說：「你是 恨我，不是 愛我，你給我本國 的人 出 謎語，卻沒有 將意思告訴 我。」參孫回答 說：「 連我父 母 我都沒有 告訴，豈可告訴 你呢？」 And Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?
17 七 日 筵宴 之 內，她在丈夫面前 啼哭，到 第七 天 逼著他，他才將謎語 的意思告訴 他妻，他妻就告訴 本國 的人。 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.
18 到第七 天，日頭 未落 以前，那城 裡的人 對參孫 說：有甚麼 比蜜 還甜呢？有甚麼 比獅子 還強呢？參孫對他們 說：你們若非 用我的母牛犢 耕地，就猜不 出 我謎語的意思來。 And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.
19 耶和華 的靈 大大感動 參孫，他就下 到亞實基倫，擊殺了 三十 個人，奪了 他們的衣裳，將 衣裳 給了 猜出 謎語的人。參孫發 怒，就上 父 家去了。 And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.
20 參孫的 妻 便歸了 參孫的陪伴，就是 作過他 朋友的。 But Samson’s wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
