| 1 | 耶和華 的約櫃 在非利士人 之地 七個 月。 | And the ark of the Lord was in the country of the Philistines seven months. |
| 2 | 非利士人 將祭司 和占卜的 聚了來，問他們說：「我們向耶和華 的約櫃 應當怎樣 行？請指示我們 用何法 將約櫃送回 原處。」 | And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the Lord? tell us wherewith we shall send it to his place. |
| 3 | 他們說：「若 要將 以色列 神 的約櫃 送回去，不可 空空地 送去，必 要 給他 獻 賠罪的禮物，然後 你們可得痊癒，並知道 他的手 為何 不 離開 你們。」 | And they said, If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return him a trespass offering: then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you. |
| 4 | 非利士人說：「應當用甚麼 獻 為 賠罪的禮物呢？」他們回答說：「當照非利士 首領 的數目，用五個 金 痔瘡，五個 金 老鼠，因為 在你們眾人 和你們首領 的身上都是一樣的 災。 | Then said they, What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your lords. |
| 5 | 所以當製造 你們痔瘡 的像 和毀壞 你們田地 老鼠 的像，並要歸 榮耀 給以色列的 神，或者 他向你們 和 你們的神，並 你們的田地，把 手 放輕些。 | Wherefore ye shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land. |
| 6 | 你們為何 硬 著 心 像 埃及人 和法老 一樣呢？ 神在埃及人中間 行奇事，埃及人豈不 釋放以色列人，他們就去了嗎？ | Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed? |
| 7 | 現在 你們應當造 一輛 新 車，將 兩隻 未 曾負 軛 有乳的 母牛 套 在車上，使 牛犢 回家去，離開母牛。 | Now therefore make a new cart, and take two milch kine, on which there hath come no yoke, and tie the kine to the cart, and bring their calves home from them: |
| 8 | 把 耶和華 的約櫃 放 在 車上，將 所 獻 賠罪 的金 物 裝 在匣子裡，放在櫃旁，將櫃 送 去。 | And take the ark of the Lord, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return him for a trespass offering, in a coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go. |
| 9 | 你們要看看：車若 直行 以色列的境界到伯．示麥去， 這 大 災 就是耶和華 降 在我們身上的；若 不然，便可以知道 不是 他的手 擊打 我們，是 我們 偶然 遇見的。」 | And see, if it goeth up by the way of his own coast to Beth–shemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that smote us; it was a chance that happened to us. |
| 10 | 非利士人 就這 樣行：將 兩隻 有乳的 母牛 套 在車上，將 牛犢 關 在家裡， | And the men did so; and took two milch kine, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home: |
| 11 | 把 耶和華 的約櫃 和 裝金 老鼠 並 金痔瘡 像的 匣子 都放 在 車上。 | And they laid the ark of the Lord upon the cart, and the coffer with the mice of gold and the images of their emerods. |
| 12 | 牛 直行 大道，往伯．示麥 去，一面走 一面叫，不 偏 左 右。非利士 的首領 跟 在後面，直到伯．示麥 的境界。 | And the kine took the straight way to the way of Beth–shemesh, and went along the highway, lowing as they went, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them unto the border of Beth–shemesh. |
| 13 | 伯．示麥人 正在平原 收割 麥子，舉 目 看見 約櫃，就歡喜了。 | And they of Beth–shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley: and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it. |
| 14 | 車 到了伯．示麥人 約書亞 的田間，就站住了。在那裡 有一塊大 磐石，他們把 車 劈了，將 兩隻母牛 獻 給耶和華 為燔祭。 | And the cart came into the field of Joshua, a Beth–shemite, and stood there, where there was a great stone: and they clave the wood of the cart, and offered the kine a burnt offering unto the Lord. |
| 15 | 利未人 將 耶和華 的約櫃 和裝 金 物 的 匣子 拿下來，放 在 大 磐石上。當 日伯．示麥 人 將燔祭 和 平安祭 獻 給耶和華。 | And the Levites took down the ark of the Lord, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men of Beth–shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the Lord. |
| 16 | 非利士人 的五個 首領 看見，當 日 就回 以革倫去了。 | And when the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day. |
| 17 | 非利士人 獻 給耶和華 作 賠罪 的金 痔瘡像，就是這些：一個 是為亞實突，一個 是為迦薩，一個 是為亞實基倫，一個 是為迦特，一個 是為以革倫。 | And these are the golden emerods which the Philistines returned for a trespass offering unto the Lord; for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Askelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one; |
| 18 | 金 老鼠 的數目 是照非利士 五個 首領的 城邑，就是堅固的 城邑 和 鄉村，以及 大 磐石。這磐石是 放 耶和華 約櫃的，到 今 日還在伯．示麥人 約書亞 的田間。 | And the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great stone of Abel, whereon they set down the ark of the Lord: which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Beth–shemite. |
| 19 | 耶和華因伯．示麥 人 擅觀 他的 約櫃，就擊殺了 他們 七十 人；那時有五萬 人在那裡（原文是七十人加五萬人）。百姓 因 耶和華 大大 擊 殺 他們，就哀哭了。 | And he smote the men of Beth–shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the Lord, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the Lord had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter. |
| 20 | 伯．示麥 人 說：「誰 能 在 耶和華 這 聖潔的 神 面前侍立呢？這約櫃可以從我們 這裡送 到 誰那裡去呢？」 | And the men of Beth–shemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy Lord God? and to whom shall he go up from us? |
| 21 | 於是打發 人 去見基列．耶琳 的居民，說：「非利士人 將 耶和華 的約櫃 送回來了，你們下來 將約櫃 接 到你們那裡去吧！」 | And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath–jearim, saying, The Philistines have brought again the ark of the Lord; come ye down, and fetch it up to you. |
