1 大祭司 就 說：「這些事 果然 有嗎？」 Then said the high priest, Are these things so?
2 司提反 說：「諸位 父 兄 請聽！當日我們 的祖宗 亞伯拉罕 在 美索不達米亞 還未 住 哈蘭的時候，榮耀的 神 向他 顯現， And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
3 對 他 說：『你 要離開 本地 和 親族， 往 我所 要指示 你 的地方 去。』 And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
4 他就離開 迦勒底人 之地，住 在 哈蘭。他 父親 死了 以後， 神使他 從那裡 搬 到 你們 現在 所 住 之 地。 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
5 在 這地方， 神並 沒有 給 他 產業，連立足之地 也沒有給他；但 應許 要將這地 賜 給他 和 他 的後裔 為 業；那時他 還沒 有 兒子。 And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.
6 神 說：『 他 的後裔 必 寄居 外邦， 那裡的人要叫他們 作奴僕， 苦待 他們四百 年。』 And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.
7 神 又說：『 使他們作奴僕 的那國，我 要懲罰。 以後 他們要出來， 在 這 地方 事奉 我。』 And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
8 神又 賜 他 割禮 的約。於是 亞伯拉罕生了 以撒， 第八 日 給他 行了割禮。 以撒 生雅各； 雅各 生十二位 先祖。 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.
9 「 先祖 嫉妒 約瑟，把他賣 到 埃及去； 神 卻 與 他 同在， And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
10 救 他 脫離 一切 苦難，又 使他 在 埃及 王 法老 面前得 恩典， 有智慧。法老就 派 他 作 埃及國 的宰相兼 管 全 家。 And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
11 後來 埃及 和 迦南 全 地遭遇饑荒， 大 受艱難，我們的 祖宗 就 絕了 糧。 Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.
12 雅各 聽見 在 埃及 有 糧，就打發 我們的 祖宗 初次往那裡去。 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.
13 第二次 約瑟 與 弟兄 們相認， 他 的親族 也被法老 知道了。 And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.
14 約瑟 就 打發 弟兄請 父親 雅各 和 全 家 七十 五 個人都來。 Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.
15 於是 雅各 下了 埃及，後來 他 和 我們的 祖宗 都死在那裡； So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,
16 又 被帶 到 示劍， 葬 於 亞伯拉罕 在 示劍 用銀子 從 哈抹 子孫 買來 的墳墓裡。 And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.
17 「 及至 神 應許 亞伯拉罕 的 日期 將到，以色列民 在 埃及 興盛 眾多， But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
18 直到 有 不 曉得 約瑟 的新王 興起。 Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.
19 他 用詭計待 我們的 宗族，苦害 我們的 祖宗，叫 他們 丟棄 嬰孩，使 嬰孩不能 存活。 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.
20 那 時，摩西 生下來， 俊美非凡， 在 他父親 家 裡撫養 了三 個月。 In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father’s house three months:
21 他 被丟棄的時候，法老 的女兒 拾了去， 養 為 自己的 兒子。 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.
22 摩西 學了 埃及人 一切的 學問， 說話 行事 都有 才能。 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.
23 「 他 將到 四十歲， 心中 起意 去看望 他 的弟兄 以色列人； And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.
24 到了那裡，見 他們一個人 受冤屈，就護庇他， 為那受欺壓 的人 報仇，打死 了那埃及人。 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:
25 他 以為 弟兄 必明白 神 是藉 他 的手 搭救 他們；他們卻 不 明白。 For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.
26 第二 天， 遇見 兩個以色列人爭鬥，就 勸 他們 和睦，說：『 你們二位是 弟兄，為甚麼 彼此 欺負呢？』 And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?
27 那欺負 鄰舍 的把他 推開，說：『誰 立 你 作 我們的 首領 和 審判官呢？ But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
28 難道你 要殺 我，像 昨天 殺 那埃及人嗎？』 Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?
29 摩西 聽見 這 話 就 逃走了， 寄居 於 米甸；在那裡 生了 兩個 兒子。 Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.
30 「 過了 四十 年，在 西奈 山 的曠野，有一位天使 從 荊棘 火 焰 中向摩西 顯現。 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.
31 摩西 見了 那異象，便覺希奇， 正進前 觀看的時候，有 主 的聲音說： When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,
32 『我 是你 列祖的 神，就是亞伯拉罕的 神， 以撒的 神， 雅各的 神。』 摩西 戰戰兢兢，不 敢 觀看。 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.
33 主 對他 說：『把你 腳 上的鞋 脫下來，因為 你所站 之地 是 聖 地。 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
34 我的 百姓 在 埃及 所受的困苦，我實在看見了，他們 悲歎的聲音，我也 聽見了。 我下來 要救 他們。 你來！我要差 你 往 埃及去。』 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
35 這 摩西 就是 百姓棄絕 說『誰 立 你 作我們的首領 和 審判官』的； 神 卻藉 那 在 荊棘 中顯現 之使者 的手 差派 他 作首領、 作救贖的。 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
36 這人 領百姓 出來，在 埃及， 在 紅 海， 在 曠野，四十 年 間行了 奇事 神蹟。 He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
37 那 曾對以色列人 說『 神 要從 你們 弟兄 中間給你們 興起 一位先知 像 我』的，就是 這位 摩西。 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
38 這人 曾 在 曠野 會 中 和 西奈 山上，與 那 對他 說話 的天使同在，又 與我們的 祖宗同在，並且 領受 活潑 的聖言 傳 給我們。 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
39 我們的 祖宗 不 肯 聽從，反 棄絕他， 心 裡歸 向 埃及， To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
40 對亞倫 說：『你且為我們 造 些神像， 在我們 前面引路；因為 領 我們 出 埃及 地 的那個 摩西，我們不 知道 他 遭了 甚麼事。』 Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
41 那 時，他們造了一個牛犢，又 拿 祭物 獻給那像， 歡喜 自己 手 中 的工作。 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
42 神 就 轉臉不顧， 任憑 他們 事奉 天上 的日月星辰，正如 先知 書 上 所寫的說：以色列 家啊，你們四十 年 間在 曠野，豈是 將犧牲 和 祭物 獻 給我嗎？ Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
43 你們 抬著 摩洛 的帳幕 和 理番 神 的星，就是 你們所造 為要敬拜 的像。因此，我要把你們 遷到 巴比倫 外去。 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
44 「我們的 祖宗 在 曠野，有 法櫃 的帳幕，是 神吩咐 摩西 叫 他照 所看見 的樣式 做的。 Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.
45 這帳幕，我們的 祖宗 相繼承受。當 神 在他們 面前 趕出 外邦人去的時候，他們同 約書亞 把帳幕搬進 承受為業之地，直存到 大衛 的日子。 Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;
46 大衛 在 神 面前蒙恩， 祈求 為雅各的 神 預備 居所； Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
47 卻 是所羅門為 神 造成 殿宇。 But Solomon built him an house.
48 其實，至高者 並不 住 人手所造的，就如 先知 所言： Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
49 主 說：天 是我的 座位， 地 是我的 腳 凳；你們要為我 造 何等的 殿宇？ 哪裡 是我 安息 的地方呢？ Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
50 這一切 不 都是我 手 所造的嗎？ Hath not my hand made all these things?
51 「你們 這硬著頸項、 心 與 耳 未受割禮的人，常時 抗拒 聖 靈！你們的 祖宗 怎樣，你們 也怎樣。 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 哪一個 先知 不是 你們 祖宗 逼迫呢？他們也 把 預先傳說 那義者 要來 的人殺了；如今 你們 又 把那義者 賣了， 殺了。 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 你們 受了 天使 所傳 的律法， 竟不 遵守。」 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
54 眾人 聽見 這話 就 極其惱怒， 向 司提反 咬牙切齒。 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
55 但 司提反被聖 靈 充滿，定睛望 天，看見 神 的榮耀，又 看見耶穌 站 在 神 的右邊， But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 就 說：「 我看見 天 開了， 人 子 站 在 神 的右邊。」 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57 眾人大 聲 喊叫，摀著 耳朵， 齊心 擁上前去， Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 把他推到 城 外，用石頭打他。 作見證的人 把 衣裳 放 在 一個少年人 名叫 掃羅 的腳前。 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.
59 他們正用石頭打的時候，司提反 呼籲 主 說：「求主 耶穌 接收 我的 靈魂！」 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 又 跪下 大 聲 喊著說：「主啊，不要 將這 罪 歸於 他們！」說 了這話，就 睡了。掃羅 也 喜悅 他 被害。 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
