1 那 時，分封的王 希律 聽見 耶穌 的名聲， At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,
2 就 對 臣僕 說：「這 是 施洗 的約翰 從 死 裡復活， 所以 這些異能 從 他 裡面發出來。」 And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
3 起先，希律 為 他 兄弟 腓力 的妻子 希羅底的緣故，把約翰 拿住，鎖 在 監裡。 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife.
4 因為 約翰 曾對他 說：「你 娶 這婦人 是不 合理的。」 For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.
5 希律就 想要 殺 他，只是怕 百姓，因為 他們以 約翰 為 先知。 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
6 到了 希律的 生日，希羅底 的女兒 在 眾人面前 跳舞， 使希律 歡喜。 But when Herod’s birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
7 希律就起 誓，應許 隨她所求 的 給 她。 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.
8 女兒被 母親 所使，就說：「請把施洗 約翰 的頭 放在 盤子裡，拿來 給 我。」 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger.
9 王 便憂愁，但因 他所起的誓，又 因同席的人，就吩咐 給她； And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.
10 於是 打發人去，在 監 裡斬了 約翰， And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.
11 把 頭 放在 盤子裡， 拿來 給了 女子； 女子拿去給 她 母親。 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.
12 約翰的 門徒 來，把屍首 領去 埋葬了，就 去 告訴 耶穌。 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.
13 耶穌 聽見了，就上 船 從那裡 獨自 退 到 野 地 裡去。 眾人 聽見，就從 各城 裡步行 跟隨 他。 When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.
14 耶穌出來，見 有許多的 人，就 憐憫 他們， 治好了 他們的 病人。 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
15 天將晚的時候， 門徒 進前來，說：「這是 野 地， 時候 已經 過了，請叫眾人 散開，他們好 往 村子 裡去，自己 買 吃的。」 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
16 耶穌 說：「不 用 他們去，你們 給 他們 吃吧！」 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
17 門徒說：「我們這裡 只 有 五個 餅， 兩條 魚。」 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
18 耶穌說：「拿 過來 給我。」 He said, Bring them hither to me.
19 於是 吩咐 眾人 坐 在 草地上，就拿著 這五個 餅， 兩條 魚，望著 天 祝福， 擘開 餅，遞給 門徒，門徒 又 遞給眾人。 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 他們都 吃，並且 吃飽了； 把剩下的 零碎 收拾起來，裝滿了 十二個 籃子。 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
21 吃的 人，除了 婦女 孩子，約 有 五千。 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
22 耶穌隨即 催 門徒 上 船， 先渡 到 那邊去，等 他叫眾人 散開。 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
23 散了 眾人以後，他就獨自 上 山 去禱告。 到了 晚上，只有他一人 在 那裡。 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
24 那時 船在海中，因 風 不順，被 浪 搖撼。 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
25 夜裡 四 更天，耶穌在 海 面上走，往 門徒 那裡去。 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
26 門徒 看見 他 在 海 面上走，就驚慌了，說：「 是 個鬼怪！」便 害怕，喊叫起來。 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27 耶穌 連忙 對他們 說：「你們放心，是 我，不要 怕！」 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 彼得 說：「主，如果 是 你，請叫 我 從水 面上 走 到 你那裡去。」 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 耶穌說：「你來吧。」彼得 就 從 船 上下去，在 水 面上走， 要到 耶穌 那裡去； And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 只 因見 風 甚大，就害怕， 將要 沉下去，便喊著 說：「主啊，救 我！」 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 耶穌 趕緊 伸 手 拉住 他， 說：「你這小信的人哪，為甚麼 疑惑呢？」 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 他們 上了 船，風 就住了。 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 在 船 上的人都拜 他，說：「你真 是 神 的兒子了。」 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
34 他們過了海，來 到 革尼撒勒 地方。 And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.
35 那 裡 的人 一認出 是耶穌，就打發人 到 周圍地方去， 把所有的 病 人帶到 他那裡， And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;
36 只 求 耶穌 准他們摸 他的 衣裳 繸子； 摸著的 人就都好了。 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
