| 2 | 主 將 猶大 王 約雅敬，並 神 殿 中器皿 的幾分 交付 他手。他就把 這器皿 帶到 示拿 地，收入他神 的廟裡，放在 他神 的庫中。 | And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god. |
| 3 | 王 吩咐 太監 長 亞施毘拿，從 以色列 人 的宗室 和 貴冑 中帶進幾個人來， | And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes; |
| 4 | 就是 年少 沒有 殘疾、相貌 俊美、通達 各樣 學問、知識 聰明 俱備、 足能 侍立 在王 宮裡的，要教他們 迦勒底 的文字 言語。 | Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. |
| 5 | 王 派定 將自己 所用的膳 和所飲 的酒，每日 賜他們 一分，養他們 三 年。滿了三年，好叫他們在王 面前 侍立。 | And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king. |

| 7 | 太監 長 給他們 起 名：稱但以理 為 伯提沙撒，稱哈拿尼雅 為沙得拉，稱米沙利 為米煞，稱亞撒利雅 為亞伯尼歌。 | Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abed–nego. |
| 8 | 但以理 卻立 志 不 以王 的膳 和王所飲 的酒 玷污自己，所以求 太監 長 容他不 玷污自己。 | But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. |
| 9 | 神 使 但以理 在太監 長 眼前 蒙恩惠，受憐憫。 | Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs. |
| 10 | 太監 長 對但以理 說：「我 懼怕 我主 我王，他 已經派定 你們的飲 食；倘若 他見 你們的面貌 比 你們同歲的 少年人 肌瘦，怎麼好呢？這樣，你們就使 我的頭 在王 那裡難保。」 | And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king. |
| 11 | 但以理 對 太監 長 所 派 管理 但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅 的委辦 說： | Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, |
| 12 | 「求你 試試 僕人們 十 天，給 我們 素菜 吃，白水 喝， | Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. |
| 13 | 然後看看 我們的面貌 和用 王 膳 那少年人 的面貌，就照你所 看 的待 僕人吧！」 | Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants. |
| 14 | 委辦便允准 他們 這 件事，試看他們 十 天。 | So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. |
| 15 | 過了 十 天，見 他們的面貌 比 用 王 膳 的一切 少年人 更加俊美 肥 胖。 | And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat. |
| 16 | 於是 委辦 撤去 派他們用的膳，飲 的酒，給 他們 素菜吃。 | Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse. |
| 17 | 這 四個 少年人， 神 在各樣 文字學問（學問：原文是智慧）上賜 給他們 聰明 知識；但以理 又明白 各樣的 異象 和夢兆。 | As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. |
| 18 | 尼布甲尼撒 王 預定 帶進 少年人來的日期 滿了，太監 長 就把他們帶到 王面前。 | Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. |
| 19 | 王 與他們 談論，見 少年人中 無一人 能比但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅，所以留他們在王 面前 侍立。 | And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king. |
| 20 | 王 考問 他們 一切 事，就見 他們的智慧 聰明 比 通 國的 術士 和用法術的 勝過十 倍。 | And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm. |
| 21 | 到 古列 王 元 年，但以理 還在。 | And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus. |
