| 1 | 大利烏王二年六月朔、耶和華藉先知哈該、諭撒拉鐵子猶大方伯所羅巴伯、及約撒答子大祭司約書亞曰、 | In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying, |
| 2 | 萬軍之耶和華曰、斯民云、建耶和華之室、其時未至、 | Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built. |
| 3 | 耶和華則藉先知哈該諭曰、 | Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying, |
| 4 | 斯室荒涼、爾居板蓋之室、於斯時宜乎、 | Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? |
| 5 | 故萬軍之耶和華云、爾其自思所爲、 | Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways. |
| 6 | 爾播多而穫少、食不得飽、飲不得足、衣不得暖、傭獲其值、盛於敝囊、 | Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. |

| 8 | 登山取木、以建斯室、我則悅之而獲榮、耶和華言之矣、 | Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord. |
| 9 | 爾望多而得少、攜之而歸、我則噓之、萬軍之耶和華曰、此何故耶、因我室荒涼、爾各亟於己室也、 | Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house. |
| 10 | 以爾之故、天靳其露、地靳其果、 | Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit. |
| 11 | 我命旱乾臨於斯土山岡、穀酒與油、曁地所產、其人與畜、爰及爾手勞而得者、○ | And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands. |
| 12 | 撒拉鐵子所羅巴伯、約撒答子大祭司約書亞、與諸遺民、遂遵其上帝耶和華之命、及先知哈該奉其上帝耶和華遣、所傳之言、民衆乃寅畏耶和華、 | Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the Lord. |
| 13 | 耶和華之使者哈該、奉耶和華之命告民曰、耶和華云、我偕爾矣、 | Then spake Haggai the Lord’s messenger in the Lord’s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the Lord. |
| 14 | 耶和華感撒拉鐵子猶大方伯所羅巴伯、與約撒答子大祭司約書亞、及諸遺民之心、遂咸至、興工於其上帝萬軍耶和華之室、 | And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the Lord of hosts, their God, |
