| 1 | 厥後、或告約瑟曰、爾父有疾、約瑟攜二子瑪拿西以法蓮至、 | And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. |
| 2 | 或告雅各曰、汝子約瑟來見、以色列強坐於牀、 | And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed. |
| 3 | 謂約瑟曰、昔在迦南之路斯、全能上帝顯見、錫嘏於我、 | And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me, |
| 4 | 曰、我將使爾生育繁多、成爲羣族、以斯土錫爾、爰及苗裔、以爲恆業、 | And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession. |
| 5 | 我未至埃及、爾所生之二子、以法蓮瑪拿西、俱屬於我、如流便西緬然、 | And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine. |
| 6 | 嗣後爾有所生、則爲爾子、於彼昆弟名下共其業、 | And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance. |
| 7 | 昔我自巴旦至迦南、途間去以法他無幾、拉結死、我葬之以法他、卽伯利恆途側、○ | And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Beth–lehem. |
| 8 | 以色列見約瑟二子、曰、此何人也、 | And Israel beheld Joseph’s sons, and said, Who are these? |
| 9 | 約瑟曰、乃上帝於斯、所賜我之子、曰、擄之來前、我爲祝嘏、 | And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them. |
| 10 | 以色列年邁、目昏無見、約瑟攜子進前、乃吻而抱之、 | Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them. |
| 11 | 謂約瑟曰、吾不意覿爾面、上帝復使覩爾子、 | And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed. |
| 12 | 約瑟令二子離膝前、而自伏地以拜、 | And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth. |
| 13 | 後攜二子、右執以法蓮、向以色列左、左執瑪拿西、向以色列右、進於其前、 | And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near unto him. |
| 14 | 以色列伸右手、按季子以法蓮首、以左手按長子瑪拿西首、交叉其臂、有意存焉、 | And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn. |
| 15 | 乃祝約瑟曰、昔我祖父亞伯拉罕以撒所崇事之上帝、迄今一生育我之上帝、 | And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day, |
| 16 | 拯我出患難之使者、願其錫嘏童蒙、使歸我及我祖父亞伯拉罕以撒名下、繁衍於地、 | The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth. |
| 17 | 約瑟見父以右手按以法蓮首、不悅、乃舉父手、欲自以法蓮首、移於瑪拿西首、 | And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head unto Manasseh’s head. |
| 18 | 曰、吾父勿爾、此乃長子、請按右手於其首、 | And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head. |
| 19 | 父不許、曰、吾子、我知之矣、此子亦必成爲一族、且復昌大、惟季必越於長、其裔成爲羣族、 | And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations. |
| 20 | 是日祝之曰、以色列族祝嘏、必曰、願上帝使之若以法蓮瑪拿西然、於是立以法蓮在瑪拿西之先、 | And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh. |
| 21 | 以色列語約瑟曰、我將死矣、惟上帝必偕爾、俾返先人之處、 | And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers. |
| 22 | 今我賜爾一區、較諸昆弟爲尤多、其地卽我以刃以弓、奪於亞摩利人之手者也、 | Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow. |
