| 1 | 耶和華上帝所造之百獸、惟蛇最狡、蛇謂婦曰、囿中諸樹、上帝豈語汝勿食乎、 | Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? |
| 2 | 婦曰、囿樹之實、我儕可食、 | And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: |
| 3 | 惟囿之中一樹、上帝戒之、毋食毋捫、恐致死亡、 | But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. |
| 4 | 蛇曰、爾未必死、 | And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: |
| 5 | 蓋上帝知爾食之日、爾目必明、將如上帝、能辨善惡、 | For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. |
| 6 | 婦視其樹、食可適口、觀可娛目、且可愛慕、益人智慧、遂取果食之、並以遺夫、夫亦食之、 | And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. |
| 7 | 二人之目卽明、自知裸體、遂編無花果葉爲裳、 | And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. |
| 8 | 晚涼時、耶和華上帝遊於囿、其人與婦聞其聲、匿囿樹間以避之、 | And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. |
| 9 | 耶和華上帝呼其人曰、汝何在、 | And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? |
| 10 | 曰、我聞爾聲於囿、以我裸故、畏而自匿、 | And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. |
| 11 | 曰、孰語爾裸乎、我戒爾勿食之樹果、爾食之乎、 | And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? |
| 12 | 曰、爾所賜偕我之婦、以樹果予我、而我食之、 | And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. |
| 13 | 耶和華上帝謂婦曰、爾何爲耶、婦曰、蛇誘我、我遂食之、 | And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. |
| 14 | 耶和華上帝謂蛇曰、爾旣爲此、較之六畜百獸、必更見詛、且以腹行、畢生食塵、 | And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: |
| 15 | 我以仇隙置爾與婦之間、爰及苗裔、彼將傷爾首、爾將傷其踵、 | And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. |
| 16 | 謂婦曰、我必增爾懷姙之苦、產育劬勞、爾必戀夫、夫必轄爾、 | Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. |
| 17 | 謂亞當曰、爾旣聽婦言、食我所禁之果、土必緣爾見詛、爾畢生勤勞、食其所產、 | And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; |
| 18 | 土將爲爾叢生荊棘蒺藜、汝所食者、田間之蔬、 | Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; |
| 19 | 必汗流浹面、始可得食、迨爾歸土、蓋爾由土出、汝本爲土、終則歸之、 | In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. |
| 20 | 其人名婦曰夏娃、以其爲羣生之母也、 | And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. |
| 21 | 耶和華上帝爲亞當及婦、作皮衣衣之、○ | Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them. |
| 22 | 耶和華上帝曰、斯人能別善惡、彷彿我儕、恐其舉手、亦取生命樹果、食之而永生、 | And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: |
| 23 | 遂遣其人出伊甸囿、以耕所自出之土、 | Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. |
| 24 | 旣逐之出、又於伊甸囿東、置基路伯、與旋轉之焰劍、以防守生命樹之途、 | So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. |
