| 1 | 亞伯拉罕南徙、旅於加低斯書珥間之基拉耳、 | And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. |
| 2 | 稱其妻撒拉爲妹、基拉耳王亞比米勒遣人取之、 | And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. |
| 3 | 夜夢上帝臨之曰、爾其死矣、蓋所取之婦、乃他人之妻也、 | But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife. |
| 4 | 亞比米勒未近婦身、曰、主歟、爲義之民、亦滅之乎、 | But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? |
| 5 | 彼非對我稱婦爲妹、婦亦稱之爲兄乎、我之爲此、心正手潔、 | Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. |
| 6 | 上帝曰、我知爾爲此、心本端正、故我阻爾、免玷婦身、干咎於我、 | And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. |
| 7 | 今以婦歸其夫、彼乃先知、將爲爾祈、以全汝生、如不歸之、宜知爾與眷聚、必皆死亡、○ | Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. |
| 8 | 亞比米勒夙興、召其諸僕、告以斯事、諸僕懼甚、 | Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. |
| 9 | 亞比米勒召亞伯拉罕曰、爾於我儕、所爲何耶、我何事獲罪爾、乃陷我於重罪、爰及我國、爾之行於我者、實非所宜、 | Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. |
| 10 | 又曰、爾何所見而行是、 | And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? |
| 11 | 亞伯拉罕曰、我意此邦不畏上帝、必緣我妻而殺我、 | And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake. |
| 12 | 彼誠我妹、同父異母、我娶爲室、 | And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. |
| 13 | 昔上帝命我離父家、遨遊於外、我謂婦曰、所適之邦、必稱我爲兄、是卽待我以恩也、 | And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. |
| 14 | 亞比米勒遂以牛羊僕婢賜之、幷歸其妻撒拉、 | And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. |
| 15 | 曰、吾之土地、具在爾前、可任意居之、 | And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee. |
| 16 | 謂撒拉曰、我以千金賜爾兄、以蔽爾容於衆前、則爾所行、無不義矣、 | And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved. |
| 17 | 亞伯拉罕祈於上帝、遂醫亞比米勒、與妻及婢、使能生育、 | So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. |
| 18 | 蓋耶和華以撒拉故、曾使亞比米勒之眷聚不姙也、 | For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife. |
