| 1 | 投爾糧於水面、歷多日必得之、 | Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. |
| 2 | 分給於七人八人、以爾不知將有何災降於地也、 | Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth. |
| 3 | 雲充以雨、則注於地、樹向南或向北而倒、終在所倒之處、 | If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. |
| 4 | 占風者不播種、瞻雲者不刈穫、 | He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. |
| 5 | 風之由來、孕婦之胎、其骨如何而長、爾旣不知、則成萬事之上帝、其所經營、爾亦不知也、 | As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all. |
| 6 | 朝宜播爾種、夕勿罷爾手、緣爾不知彼此孰茂、或二者俱佳、 | In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good. |
| 7 | 光誠美矣、目覩日華、甚可悅焉、 | Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun: |
| 8 | 人享遐齡、皆宜喜樂、惟當念及幽暗之日必多、將來之事、悉屬虛空、○ | But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity. |
| 9 | 維爾少者、幼時其欣喜、中心懽忭、行爾心所欲、視爾目所悅、惟當知上帝必爲此諸事鞫爾、 | Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. |
| 10 | 故當心屛憂愁、身去邪惡、因稚齒與英年、悉屬虛空、 | Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity. |
