| 1 | 約伯曰、 | Then Job answered and said, |
| 2 | 今我之愬、謂爲悖逆、而所受之譴責、甚於我之呻吟、 | Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning. |
| 3 | 深願知於何處尋之、詣乎其位、 | Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! |
| 4 | 以我之獄、陳於其前、辨白之詞、充乎我口、 | I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. |
| 5 | 必得知其所答、悉其所言、 | I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me. |
| 6 | 彼豈以其大能與我爭乎、非也、必俞允我、 | Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me. |
| 7 | 在彼、正人可與之辯、則我得永脫於鞫者、 | There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge. |
| 8 | 我行於前、彼不在焉、我退於後、亦不見之、 | Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: |
| 9 | 彼造作於左、我不能覩、彼隱匿於右、我不克覯、 | On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: |
| 10 | 惟彼知我行徑、旣經試鍊、我必出如精金、 | But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. |
| 11 | 我足謹履其步武、我守其道而不離、 | My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. |
| 12 | 其脣所出之命、我未遺棄、保存其口之言、重於所需之食、 | Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. |
| 13 | 惟其志維一、誰能易之、其心所欲、則必行之、 | But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth. |
| 14 | 爲我所定、彼必成之、如是之事、彼多有之、 | For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him. |
| 15 | 故我在其前而驚惶、思之則恐懼、 | Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him. |
| 16 | 上帝使我心頹敗、全能者使我驚駭、 | For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me: |
| 17 | 我之恐懼、非因幽暗、非因昏黑蔽我面也、 | Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face. |
