| 1 | 約伯曰、 | But Job answered and said, |
| 2 | 爾且諦聽我言、乃爾相慰之事、 | Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations. |
| 3 | 請容我亦言之、後加姍笑可也、 | Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on. |
| 4 | 我訴寃抑、豈向人乎、何爲不焦急乎、 | As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled? |
| 5 | 爾其注意於我、必將駭異、以手掩口、 | Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth. |
| 6 | 每有思憶、我則煩擾、徧體戰慄、 | Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh. |
| 7 | 惡人何以生存、享壽、勢力烜赫、 | Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power? |
| 8 | 目覩子孫與之偕立、後嗣在其目前、 | Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes. |
| 9 | 其家平康、無所畏懼、上帝之杖、不加其身、 | Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them. |
| 10 | 牡牛孳息、靡有斷絕、牝牛產犢、亦不墮胎、 | Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf. |
| 11 | 孩童出則成羣、子女舞蹈、 | They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance. |
| 12 | 和琴鼓而謳歌、聽簫聲而歡樂、 | They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ. |
| 13 | 度日亨通、俄頃下於陰府、 | They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. |
| 14 | 若輩對上帝曰、爾其去我、我不願知爾道、 | Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. |
| 15 | 全能者誰、致我事之、祈之有何益乎、 | What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him? |
| 16 | 然其福非在己手、惡人所謀、我乃遠之、 | Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me. |
| 17 | 其燈見滅、其禍猝來、上帝赫怒、加以困苦、 | How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger. |
| 18 | 彼若飄於風前之草芥、狂飇吹散之粃糠、何嘗有是事哉、 | They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away. |
| 19 | 爾曰、上帝積其惡、罰其嗣、然何不報於其身、使自知之、 | God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it. |
| 20 | 俾目覩其敗亡、親飲全能者之忿怒、 | His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty. |
| 21 | 其月數旣盡、奚慮其家室、 | For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst? |
| 22 | 上帝旣鞫居高者、有人能以知識教之乎、 | Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high. |
| 23 | 有人至死、身軀壯健、無不平康安逸、 | One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet. |
| 24 | 胸鬲脂充、骸骨髓潤、 | His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow. |
| 25 | 又有至死、心懷困苦、未嘗享福、 | And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure. |
| 26 | 要皆偃臥土中、爲蛆所覆、 | They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them. |
| 27 | 我知爾意、與爾所以枉我之謀、 | Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me. |
| 28 | 爾曰、霸者之室家安在、惡人之居幕奚存、 | For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked? |
| 29 | 爾未詢行路之人乎、不知其引證乎、 | Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens, |
| 30 | 卽惡人於患難之日獲免、在震怒之時得脫、 | That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath. |
| 31 | 彼之所行、孰面語之、彼之所作、誰能報之、 | Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done? |
| 32 | 雖然、至終被舁於墓、人守其陵、 | Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb. |
| 33 | 彼以幽谷之塊爲甘、先之往者無數、從其後者甚繁、 | The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him. |
| 34 | 如是、爾之應答旣謬、何爲徒慰我乎、 | How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood? |
