| 1 | 約西亞子西底家、代約雅敬子哥尼雅、爲王於猶大地、乃巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒立之也、 | And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah. |
| 2 | 耶和華藉先知耶利米所諭之言、彼與其臣僕、及斯土之民、咸不聽從、○ | But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the Lord, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah. |
| 3 | 西底家王遣示利米雅子猶甲、與祭司瑪西雅子西番雅、往見先知耶利米曰、請爾爲我禱我上帝耶和華、 | And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the Lord our God for us. |

| 5 | 法老之軍旅自埃及而出、圍耶路撒冷之迦勒底人聞之、遂撤營、離耶路撒冷、 | Then Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem. |
| 6 | 耶和華諭耶利米曰、 | Then came the word of the Lord unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying, |
| 7 | 以色列之上帝耶和華云、其告遣爾問我之猶大王曰、法老之軍旅出以助爾、必返埃及、入其故土、 | Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land. |
| 8 | 迦勒底人必復來攻斯邑、取而焚之、 | And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire. |
| 9 | 耶和華曰、毋自欺云、迦勒底人必去我、必不去也、 | Thus saith the Lord; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart. |
| 10 | 攻爾之迦勒底人、爾縱擊其全軍、惟遺受創者於其中、彼必自幕而起、火焚斯邑、○ | For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire. |
| 11 | 迦勒底軍爲懼法老之軍、旣撤營、離耶路撒冷、 | And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army, |
| 12 | 耶利米出耶路撒冷、欲往便雅憫地、得其業於民中、 | Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people. |
| 13 | 旣至便雅憫門、有閽長名伊利雅、乃哈拿尼亞孫、示利米雅子也、執先知耶利米、曰、汝降迦勒底人也、 | And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans. |
| 14 | 耶利米曰、妄哉、我不降迦勒底人、伊利雅弗聽、執耶利米、解至牧伯、 | Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes. |
| 15 | 諸牧伯怒耶利米、撻之、囚於繕寫約拿單室、蓋以此室爲獄也、 | Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison. |
| 16 | 耶利米下獄、幽之於室多日、 | When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days; |
| 17 | 西底家王遣人攜之出、王在宮潛問之曰、耶和華有言乎、耶利米曰、有、又曰、爾必付於巴比倫王之手、 | Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the Lord? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon. |
| 18 | 耶利米謂西底家王曰、我何所干罪於爾、或爾臣僕、或庶民、致幽我於獄耶、 | Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison? |
| 19 | 爾之先知與爾預言曰、巴比倫王必不至而攻爾、及斯土、其人安在、 | Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land? |
| 20 | 我主我王歟、請爾聽之、納我所求、毋令我復返繕寫約拿單之室、免我死亡、 | Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there. |
| 21 | 西底家王乃命幽耶利米於護軍之院、日由餅市、取餅一方與之、迨及邑中之餅告罄、耶利米遂拘留於護軍之院、 | Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison. |
