| 1 | 猶大王約西亞子約雅敬卽位之初、有言自耶和華出曰、 | In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word from the Lord, saying, |
| 2 | 耶和華云、爾其立於耶和華室院、以我命爾之言、告猶大諸邑、凡入耶和華室而崇拜者、勿減一詞、 | Thus saith the Lord; Stand in the court of the Lord’s house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the Lord’s house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word: |
| 3 | 彼或聽從、各轉離其惡途、俾我回意、不以我因其惡、所欲施行之災降之、 | If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings. |
| 4 | 爾其告之曰、耶和華云、如爾不聽我、不遵我所示爾之法律、 | And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you, |
| 5 | 不從我僕諸先知之言、卽我夙興而遣者、爾不聽之、 | To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened; |
| 6 | 我必使此室如示羅、使此邑爲天下諸國所詛、 | Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth. |
| 7 | 耶利米於耶和華室言此、祭司先知庶民悉聞之、 | So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord. |
| 8 | 耶利米以耶和華所命、告衆旣竟、祭司先知庶民執之曰、爾必死、 | Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die. |
| 9 | 爾奚託耶和華名預言曰、此室必如示羅、此邑荒蕪、無人居處哉、衆乃集於耶利米前、在耶和華室、○ | Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the Lord. |
| 10 | 猶大牧伯聞此、則自王宮上耶和華室、坐於新門之場、 | When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king’s house unto the house of the Lord, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the Lord’s house. |
| 11 | 祭司先知謂牧伯庶民曰、斯人當死、彼對此邑之預言、爾曹親耳聞之、 | Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears. |
| 12 | 耶利米謂牧伯庶民曰、我指斯室斯邑所言、爾所聞者、乃耶和華遣我預言之也、 | Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard. |
| 13 | 今當正爾途、端爾行、從爾上帝耶和華之言、耶和華則必回意、不降所言之災、 | Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; and the Lord will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. |
| 14 | 若我、今在爾手、依爾所視爲善爲正者以待我、 | As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you. |
| 15 | 惟當深知、若致我於死、則必使無辜之血、歸於爾身、與斯邑、及其居民、蓋耶和華誠遣我、以此諸言告爾、俾爾聞之、 | But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the Lord hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears. |
| 16 | 牧伯庶民謂祭司先知曰、斯人不當死、彼託我上帝耶和華名、言於我也、 | Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God. |
| 17 | 國中長老數人、起而告會衆曰、 | Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying, |
| 18 | 當猶大王希西家時、摩利沙人彌迦預言、告猶大衆曰、萬軍之耶和華云、錫安必被耕、有若田疇、耶路撒冷爲墟、聖室之山、猶林中之崇邱、 | Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest. |
| 19 | 猶大王希西家、及猶大衆、豈致之於死乎、王非寅畏耶和華、而求其恩、致耶和華回意、不降所言之災乎、今我行此、乃自害己命耳、 | Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the Lord, and besought the Lord, and the Lord repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls. |
| 20 | 又有基列耶琳人、示瑪雅子烏利亞、託耶和華名、對此邑此地預言、其詞悉同於耶利米、 | And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the Lord, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath–jearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah: |
| 21 | 約雅敬王曁武士牧伯聞其言、王欲殺之、烏利亞聞之、則懼、逃往埃及、 | And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death: but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt; |
| 22 | 約雅敬王遣亞革波子以利拿單、及從者數人詣埃及、 | And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him into Egypt. |
| 23 | 曳烏利亞出埃及、攜至約雅敬王、王殺之以刃、擲其屍於平民之墓、 | And they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people. |
| 24 | 惟沙番子亞希甘護佑耶利米、免付於庶民手、致之於死、 | Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death. |
