| 1 | 西底家王遣瑪基雅子巴施戶珥、祭司瑪西雅子西番雅、詣耶利米曰、 | The word which came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying, |
| 2 | 巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒將與我戰、求爾爲我詢於耶和華、或耶和華依其奇行待我、使彼離我而去、 | Enquire, I pray thee, of the Lord for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the Lord will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us. |
| 3 | 耶利米奉耶和華命、謂之曰、其告西底家云、 | Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah: |
| 4 | 以色列之上帝耶和華曰、爾所持之戰具、在於城外、以戰巴比倫王、及圍爾之迦勒底人、我必使之反退、集於邑中、 | Thus saith the Lord God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city. |
| 5 | 我必震怒發忿、自以高舉之手、有力之臂攻爾、 | And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath. |
| 6 | 擊此邑之居民、或人或畜、俱遭大疫而亡、 | And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence. |
| 7 | 耶和華曰、厥後、我必以猶大王西底家、曁其臣僕庶民、凡在邑中、疫癘鋒刃饑饉之餘、悉付於巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、與其諸敵、及索其命者之手、巴比倫王必擊之以刃、不惜之、不憐之、不加矜憫、○ | And afterward, saith the Lord, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy. |
| 8 | 又當告斯民曰、耶和華云、我以生道死道、陳於爾前、 | And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death. |
| 9 | 凡居此邑者、必亡於鋒刃饑饉疫癘、惟出而歸圍爾之迦勒底人者、必得生存、獲其生命、如獲掠物、 | He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey. |
| 10 | 耶和華曰、我乃注目此邑、必加以禍、不加以福、付於巴比倫王手、焚之以火、○ | For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the Lord: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire. |
| 11 | 論猶大王家、宜聽耶和華言、 | And touching the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear ye the word of the Lord; |
| 12 | 耶和華曰、大衞家歟、當朝行公義、拯被刧者於暴者之手、恐我因爾惡行、發怒若火炎炎、莫能撲滅、 | O house of David, thus saith the Lord; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. |
| 13 | 居於谷中、平原之磐者歟、爾曰、孰能降而擊我、孰能入我窟穴、耶和華曰、我爲爾敵、 | Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the Lord; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations? |
| 14 | 我必循爾行爲所結之實、加罰於爾、且必燃火於林、焚燬四周、耶和華言之矣、 | But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the Lord: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it. |
