| 1 | 便雅憫地、亞拿突邑、祭司希勒家子耶利米之言、 | The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin: |
| 2 | 猶大王亞們子約西亞、卽位之十三年、耶和華諭之、 | To whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. |
| 3 | 又諭之於猶大王約西亞子約雅敬時、迄約西亞子西底家十一年之末、是年五月、耶路撒冷被虜、○ | It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month. |
| 4 | 耶和華諭我曰、 | Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, |
| 5 | 我未造爾於腹、我已識爾、爾未出胎、我已區別爾、立爾爲列邦之先知、 | Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. |
| 6 | 我曰、噫、主耶和華歟、我乃小子、不知所言、 | Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. |
| 7 | 耶和華諭我曰、勿謂我乃小子、我使爾何往、爾必往焉、我命爾何言、爾必言焉、 | But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. |
| 8 | 勿緣之而懼、蓋我與爾偕、以拯爾也、耶和華言之矣、 | Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. |
| 9 | 耶和華伸手捫我口、曰、我以我言置於爾口、 | Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. |
| 10 | 今日立爾於諸邦諸族之上、用以拔之毀之、滅之傾之、建之植之、○ | See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. |
| 11 | 耶和華又諭我曰、耶利米、爾何所見、曰、見杏樹之枝、 | Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. |
| 12 | 曰、爾所見善矣、我必儆醒、守我言以成之、 | Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. |
| 13 | 耶和華復諭我曰、爾何所見、曰、見一沸鼎自北而傾、 | And the word of the Lord came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north. |
| 14 | 耶和華曰、禍必自北而發、臨於斯土衆民矣、 | Then the Lord said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land. |
| 15 | 我必召北方諸邦諸族咸至、各設其座於耶路撒冷邑門之場、環攻城垣、曁猶大諸邑、耶和華言之矣、 | For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the Lord; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah. |
| 16 | 我必宣告懲罰於彼、以其離棄我、焚香於他神、崇拜己手所作者、肆行惡事、 | And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands. |
| 17 | 爾其束腰而起、盡傳我命、勿緣之恐惶、免我使爾恐惶於其前、 | Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. |
| 18 | 我是日使爾對於猶大通國、君王牧伯、祭司庶民、爲堅城鐵柱銅垣、 | For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. |
| 19 | 彼必攻爾而不勝、蓋我與爾偕、以拯爾也、耶和華言之矣、 | And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee. |
