1 因主忿怒之杖、而遭艱苦、我卽其人兮、 I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 彼引導予、使行於幽暗、不履於光明兮、 He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.
3 竟日反手、攻我已屢兮、 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.
4 銷瘦我肌膚、摧折我骨骸兮、 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
5 築壘攻我、以苦膽勞瘁圍我兮、 He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
6 俾我處於幽暗、如久死之人兮、 He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
7 彼環我以籓籬、使予不出、繫我以重鏈兮、 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
8 我呼籲求助時、掩耳不聽我祈兮、 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
9 以鑿石塞我途、使我蹊徑維曲兮、 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
10 彼之於我、如熊潛伏、如獅陰伺兮、 He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
11 俾我迷途、攫而裂我、使我驚惶兮、 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
12 張弓發矢、以我爲的兮、 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 使其箙中之矢、入於我腰兮、 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 我爲我民之笑柄、終日以我爲歌兮、 I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
15 爾饜我以苦荼、飫我以茵蔯兮、 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
16 以沙石折我齒、以灰塵蒙我身兮、 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
17 使我靈遠平康、我忘福祉兮、 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
18 乃曰我力已盡、絕望於耶和華兮、 And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord:
19 我之禍患艱難、茵蔯苦膽、尚其憶之兮、 Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 我心猶憶之、而抑鬱兮、 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 我追念之、則有所冀兮、 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 吾儕之不盡滅、乃由耶和華之仁慈、以其矜憫不絕兮、 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 每朝新施、爾之信實宏大兮、 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 我心自謂、耶和華爲我業、我必望之兮、 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 凡仰而求耶和華者、耶和華施之恩兮、 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 仰望耶和華之拯救、而靜俟之、斯爲美兮、 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
27 人於幼年負軛、亦爲美兮、 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
28 當默然而獨坐、以其軛爲主所加兮、 He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.
29 厥口伏於塵埃、庶可有望兮、 He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
30 由人批頰、充其凌辱兮、 He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
31 蓋主之遺棄、不至永久兮、 For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
32 雖使人憂戚、尚循其慈惠之富、而加矜恤兮、 But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
33 彼加苦難、使人憂戚、非其心兮、 For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
34 足踐世之獄囚、 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
35 枉人於至上者之前、 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
36 屈人之獄、俱耶和華所不悅兮、 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
37 非主所命、誰能言之、而卽成兮、 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
38 惟禍與福、非出自至上者之口乎、 Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
39 人生於世、因己愆尤受罰、又何怨兮、 Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
40 我儕其察己途、轉歸耶和華兮、 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.
41 宜向天上上帝、舉手致心兮、 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
42 我儕犯罪悖逆、爾未赦宥兮、 We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
43 爾以怒自蔽、追迫我儕、施行誅戮、不加矜恤兮、 Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
44 爾以雲自蔽、致祈禱不得達兮、 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.
45 爾使我於列民中、成爲塵垢廢物兮、 Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
46 我之諸敵、向我大張厥口兮、 All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
47 驚惶陷阱、我皆罹之、殘害滅亡、我亦遭之兮、 Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
48 因我民女遭滅、我目流涕如溪兮、 Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49 我目流涕、無已無間兮、 Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
50 迨耶和華垂顧、自天鑒觀兮、 Till the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
51 緣我邑中諸女、觸目而傷心兮、 Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.
52 無故爲我敵者、急追我如追鳥兮、 Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.
53 絕我命於阱、擲石於我身兮、 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.
54 水滅我頂、我曰我其亡兮、 Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.
55 耶和華歟、我自深阱呼籲爾名兮、 I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the low dungeon.
56 爾曾垂聽我聲、我之歎息呼籲、勿掩耳不聞兮、 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.
57 我籲爾之日、爾臨而近我、命曰毋懼兮、 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
58 主歟、爾已伸我寃、贖我命兮、 O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
59 耶和華歟、爾鑒我之屈抑、祈爾理我獄兮、 O Lord, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
60 彼報仇謀害我、爾俱見之兮、 Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.
61 耶和華歟、彼謗凟謀害我、爾已聞之兮、 Thou hast heard their reproach, O Lord, and all their imaginations against me;
62 起而攻我者、其脣所發、終日所謀、爾亦聞之兮、 The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
63 彼之起居、求爾察之、彼以我爲歌兮、 Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.
64 耶和華歟、爾必依其手所爲、而報之兮、 Render unto them a recompence, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.
65 使之剛愎厥心、加以呪詛兮、 Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.
66 以怒逐之、滅於耶和華諸天之下兮、 Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the Lord.
