1 王遣人集猶大及耶路撒冷諸長老、 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
2 王與猶大人、耶路撒冷居民、祭司先知、及所有民衆、無論長幼、咸上耶和華室、王誦耶和華室中、所得約書之言、俾衆聽聞、 And the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the Lord.
3 王立於柱側、在耶和華前立約、一心一意順從耶和華、守其誡命、法度典章、以成約書所載之言、民亦服從此約、 And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
4 王命大祭司希勒家、與諸副祭司、及閽人、由耶和華殿、取出爲巴力亞舍拉曁天象、所製之器皿、焚於耶路撒冷外、汲淪田間、攜其灰至伯特利、 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth–el.
5 昔猶大列王所立奉偶像之祭司、使於猶大諸邑之崇邱、曁耶路撒冷四周焚香者、王悉廢之、又廢焚香於巴力、與日月行星、及諸天象者、 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
6 亦出亞舍拉像於耶和華室、攜至耶路撒冷外、焚於汲淪溪濱、搗之成粉、揚於平民之墓、 And he brought out the grove from the house of the Lord, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
7 毀耶和華室中孌童之舍、卽婦女織亞舍拉帷帳之所、 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
8 又從猶大諸邑、攜諸祭司而出、汚衊祭司昔所焚香之崇邱、自迦巴至別是巴、並毀城門左、邑宰約書亞門前之崇邱、 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer–sheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.
9 惟崇邱之祭司、不登耶路撒冷耶和華之壇、祇於其昆弟中、食無酵餅而已、 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the Lord in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.
10 又汚衊欣嫩子谷之陀斐特、免人使其子女經火、以奉摩洛、 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
11 猶大列王所獻於日之馬、乃在耶和華室門之側、宦豎拿單米勒附近廊廡之室、王悉去之、且焚日車、 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nathan–melech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
12 猶大列王在亞哈斯樓巔所建之壇、及瑪拿西在耶和華室二院中所建之壇、王悉毀而碎之、攜其塵土、傾於汲淪溪、 And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
13 昔以色列王所羅門、在耶路撒冷東、邪僻山南、爲西頓人可憎之神亞斯他錄、摩押人可憎之神基抹、亞捫人可憎之神米勒公、所建之崇邱、王悉汚衊之、 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.
14 碎其柱像、斫其木偶、以人骨充其所、 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
15 昔尼八子耶羅波安、在伯特利築壇及崇邱、陷以色列人於罪者、王悉毀之、焚其邱壇、搗之成粉、並焚木偶、 Moreover the altar that was at Beth–el, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.
16 約西亞回顧、見山中有墓、遣人自墓取骨、而焚於壇、以汚衊之、如上帝僕所傳耶和華之言、 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the Lord which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
17 約西亞曰、我所見者、何碑也、邑人告曰、昔有上帝僕自猶大來、言王今所行於伯特利壇之事、此其墓碑也、 Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Beth–el.
18 約西亞曰、舍之、勿移其骨、遂舍之、亦舍自撒瑪利亞來之先知骨、 And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.
19 昔以色列列王在撒瑪利亞諸邑、建崇邱之室、激耶和華怒、約西亞悉除之、如所行於伯特利然、 And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Beth–el.
20 殺崇邱之祭司於壇、焚人骨於其上、乃返耶路撒冷、○ And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men’s bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.
21 王命民衆曰、當爲爾之上帝耶和華、守逾越節、循此約書所載、 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the Lord your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
22 自士師治以色列人、以及以色列列王猶大列王時、未嘗守如是之逾越節、 Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
23 乃於約西亞王十八年、在耶路撒冷、爲耶和華守此逾越節、 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the Lord in Jerusalem.
24 猶大地及耶路撒冷、所有憑鬼者曁巫覡、與家神偶像、並一切可憎之物、約西亞悉除之、循祭司希勒家在耶和華室、所得律書記載之言、 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.
25 在約西亞以前、無王如彼盡心盡意盡力、歸向耶和華、遵行摩西一切法律、其後亦無如之者、 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
26 然耶和華向猶大之烈怒猶未息、因瑪拿西諸事激之也、 Notwithstanding the Lord turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.
27 耶和華曰、我將屛猶大人於我前、如屛以色列人然、棄我所簡此邑耶路撒冷、及我所言必寄我名之室、 And the Lord said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
28 約西亞其餘事蹟、凡其所行、俱載於猶大列王紀、 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
29 當其在時、埃及王法老尼哥往伯拉河、攻亞述王、約西亞王出而禦之、法老尼哥遇之於米吉多殺之、 In his days Pharaoh–nechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
30 臣僕以車載其屍、自米吉多至耶路撒冷、葬於其墓、國民膏約西亞子約哈斯、立之爲王、以繼其父、○ And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s stead.
31 約哈斯卽位時、年二十有三、在耶路撒冷爲王、僅歷三月、其母哈慕他、立拿人耶利米女也、 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32 約哈斯行耶和華所惡、效其列祖所爲、 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
33 法老尼哥繫之於哈馬地之利比拉、不使爲王於耶路撒冷、又徵猶大國銀一百他連得、金一他連得、 And Pharaoh–nechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
34 法老尼哥立約西亞子以利亞敬、繼其父爲王、易其名曰約雅敬、攜約哈斯至埃及、卒於彼、 And Pharaoh–nechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
35 約雅敬循法老命、徵金銀於國民、乃按其人之力、爲定數而取之、以予法老尼哥、○ And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaoh–nechoh.
36 約雅敬卽位時、年二十有五、在耶路撒冷爲王、歷十一年、其母名西布大、魯瑪人毘大雅女也、 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
37 約雅敬行耶和華所惡、效其列祖所爲、 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
