| 1 | 猶大王亞哈斯十二年、以拉子何細亞卽位、在撒瑪利亞爲以色列王、凡歷九年、 | In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years. |
| 2 | 行耶和華所惡、第不若以色列前王之甚、 | And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him. |
| 3 | 亞述王撒縵以色上而攻之、何細亞臣服之、而納貢焉、 | Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents. |
| 4 | 何細亞謀叛、遣使詣埃及王梭、不納歲貢於亞述王、如前所爲、亞述王知之、遂禁錮之、而囚於獄、 | And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison. |

| 6 | 何細亞九年、亞述王取撒瑪利亞、徙以色列人至亞述、置於哈臘與歌散之哈博河濱、及瑪代諸邑、 | In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. |
| 7 | 此因以色列人獲罪於其上帝耶和華、卽導之出埃及、脫於埃及王法老手者、彼乃寅畏他神、 | For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods, |
| 8 | 循耶和華於以色列人前、所逐異族之例、及以色列諸王所立之例、 | And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made. |
| 9 | 以色列人私行不正之事、背逆其上帝耶和華、於其諸邑、自戍樓至堅城、建築崇邱、 | And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. |
| 10 | 在山岡之上、綠樹之下、立柱像與木偶、 | And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree: |
| 11 | 焚香於諸崇邱、效耶和華於其前所逐之異族、行諸惡事、激耶和華之怒、 | And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the Lord carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger: |
| 12 | 崇事偶像、卽耶和華所言不可爲者、 | For they served idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing. |
| 13 | 耶和華藉諸先知先見、戒以色列與猶大人曰、當轉離爾之惡途、守我誡命典章、循我所命爾列祖、及藉我僕衆先知授爾之法、 | Yet the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. |
| 14 | 惟彼弗聽、強項不馴、如其不信厥上帝耶和華之列祖、 | Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God. |
| 15 | 違棄上帝之典章、及與其列祖所立之約、並戒之之言、從虛無而變爲虛妄、效四周異邦、卽耶和華所命勿效之者、 | And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them. |
| 16 | 違棄其上帝耶和華一切誡命、鑄二犢像、製造木偶、崇拜天象、奉事巴力、 | And they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. |
| 17 | 使其子女經火、用卜筮邪術、自鬻而行耶和華所惡、以激其怒、 | And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger. |
| 18 | 耶和華震怒以色列人、擯於其前、惟遺猶大支派而已、 | Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. |
| 19 | 猶大亦不守其上帝耶和華之誡命、乃從以色列人所立之例、 | Also Judah kept not the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. |
| 20 | 耶和華棄以色列全族、而困苦之、付於虜者之手、擯於其前、 | And the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight. |
| 21 | 奪以色列離大衞家、衆乃立尼八子耶羅波安爲王、耶羅波安誘以色列人不從耶和華、使干大罪、 | For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the Lord, and made them sin a great sin. |
| 22 | 以色列人從耶羅波安所犯諸罪、不離棄之、 | For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them; |
| 23 | 致耶和華擯以色列人於其前、如藉其僕衆先知所言、於是以色列人被虜離故土、徙於亞述、迄於今日、○ | Until the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day. |
| 24 | 亞述王自巴比倫、古他、亞瓦、哈馬、西法瓦音、移人置於撒瑪利亞之邑、以代以色列人、遂據撒瑪利亞、居其諸邑、 | And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof. |
| 25 | 斯衆始居於彼之時、不寅畏耶和華、耶和華使獅入其中、殺其數人、 | And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the Lord: therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which slew some of them. |
| 26 | 或告亞述王曰、王所移居撒瑪利亞之族、不識斯土之神之律、故彼使獅入其中而殺之、 | Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land. |
| 27 | 亞述王命曰、爾曹自其地所虜之祭司、返其一人、使居其地、以其地之神之律誨衆、 | Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land. |
| 28 | 於是自撒瑪利亞被虜之祭司一人、來居伯特利、誨衆如何寅畏耶和華、 | Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth–el, and taught them how they should fear the Lord. |
| 29 | 然各族之人、於其所居之邑、各爲己造神像、置於撒瑪利亞人所造崇邱之廟、 | Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt. |
| 30 | 巴比倫人造疏割比訥像、古他人造匿甲像、哈馬人造亞示瑪像、 | And the men of Babylon made Succoth–benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, |
| 31 | 亞瓦人造匿哈與他珥他像、西法瓦音人以火焚其子女、獻於西法瓦音之神、亞得米勒與亞拿米勒、 | And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. |
| 32 | 斯衆乃寅畏耶和華、亦從其中簡立祭司、以司崇邱、爲之獻祭於崇邱之廟、 | So they feared the Lord, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. |
| 33 | 如是、斯衆寅畏耶和華、又事己神、循其所自徙諸族之例、 | They feared the Lord, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence. |
| 34 | 至今尚循往例、不誠畏耶和華、不循己之典章律例、不遵耶和華所命雅各後裔之法律誡命、夫雅各、昔耶和華名之曰以色列、 | Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the Lord, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel; |
| 35 | 耶和華與其後裔立約、誡之曰、勿寅畏他神、勿崇拜、勿奉事、勿祭祀、 | With whom the Lord had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them: |
| 36 | 惟以大能奮臂、導爾出埃及之耶和華、爾當寅畏崇拜、而祭祀之、 | But the Lord, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice. |
| 37 | 恆守其爲爾所錄之典章律例、法度誡命、而遵行之、勿寅畏他神、 | And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods. |
| 38 | 勿忘我與爾所立之約、勿寅畏他神、 | And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods. |
| 39 | 惟寅畏爾之上帝耶和華、彼必拯爾脫於諸敵之手、 | But the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies. |
| 40 | 惟彼不聽、仍循往例、 | Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner. |
| 41 | 如是、斯族寅畏耶和華、又奉事其雕像、其子與孫亦若是、厥祖所行、彼亦效之、迄於今日、 | So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day. |
