| 1 | 推羅王希蘭素愛大衞、聞所羅門受膏、繼父爲王、則遣臣僕見之、 | And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David. |
| 2 | 所羅門亦遣人見希蘭曰、 | And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying, |
| 3 | 昔我父大衞、因四方戰鬬、待耶和華服諸敵於其足下、不能爲其上帝耶和華之名建室、爾所知也、 | Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the Lord his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet. |
| 4 | 今我上帝耶和華、錫我四周綏安、無敵無殃、 | But now the Lord my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent. |
| 5 | 我決志爲我上帝耶和華之名建室、應耶和華諭我父大衞之言曰、我將使爾子繼爾踐位、彼必爲我名建室、 | And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name. |
| 6 | 請爾命人、爲我斫香柏於利巴嫩、我僕與爾僕偕、爾言其值、我必予之、蓋爾知西頓人能斫木、我中無人如之、 | Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians. |
| 7 | 希蘭聞所羅門言、欣喜不勝、曰、今當頌美耶和華、賜大衞智慧之子、治此大國、 | And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the Lord this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people. |
| 8 | 遂遣人告所羅門曰、爾所言者、我已聞之、論及香柏松木、我必如爾所欲而爲、 | And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir. |
| 9 | 我僕必自利巴嫩、運至海濱、編之爲桴、浮海至爾所定之地、在彼解之、爾可受焉、以食物供我宮廷、則盈我願、 | My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household. |
| 10 | 希蘭以香柏松木予所羅門、如其所欲、 | So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire. |
| 11 | 所羅門以麥二萬歌珥、清油二十歌珥、供希蘭之宮廷、每歲如此、 | And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year. |
| 12 | 希蘭與所羅門和好、彼此立約、耶和華循其所許、以智慧賜所羅門、○ | And the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together. |
| 13 | 所羅門王在以色列中、徵人爲役、共計三萬、 | And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men. |
| 14 | 每月遞更、遣人一萬至利巴嫩、居利巴嫩一月、居家二月、亞多尼蘭督之、 | And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy. |
| 15 | 所羅門又有七萬人負荷、八萬人在山鑿石、 | And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains; |
| 16 | 此外有督工者、三千三百人、以督操作之衆、 | Beside the chief of Solomon’s officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work. |
| 17 | 王命人鑿大而且貴之石、以立室基、 | And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house. |
| 18 | 所羅門與希蘭之匠、曁迦巴勒人琢之、備具木石、以建殿宇、 | And Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house. |
