1 所羅門王寵法老女、此外、又寵異族之女甚多、卽摩押亞捫以東西頓赫人之女、 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;
2 耶和華曾諭以色列人云、勿與彼族往來相通、彼必誘惑爾心、俾從其神、然所羅門戀愛其女、 Of the nations concerning which the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
3 公主爲后妃者七百、嬪嬙三百、皆蠱惑其心、 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.
4 所羅門年邁時、后妃誘之、附於他神、不專心從其上帝耶和華、如父大衞、 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.
5 乃從西頓人之女神亞斯他錄、及亞捫人可憎之神米勒公、 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
6 所羅門行耶和華所惡、不效其父大衞、盡心從耶和華、 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father.
7 在耶路撒冷東之山、爲摩押可憎之神基抹、與亞捫人可憎之神摩洛築壇、 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.
8 爲其異族后妃亦行此、彼皆焚香獻祭與其神、○ And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.
9 耶和華怒所羅門、因其心轉離以色列之上帝耶和華、二次見於彼者、 And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,
10 耶和華命其不可從事他神、彼乃不遵其命、 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the Lord commanded.
11 故耶和華諭之曰、爾旣行是、不守我約、及我命爾之典章、我必奪爾國祚、以予爾僕、 Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.
12 第緣爾父大衞之故、於爾存日、我不行是、惟必奪於爾子之手、 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.
13 然不奪其全國、因我僕大衞、及我所簡之耶路撒冷故、以一支派錫予爾子、○ Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.
14 耶和華使以東王裔哈達、起而敵所羅門、 And the Lord stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom.
15 昔大衞征以東、其軍長約押、往葬陳亡者、盡殺以東之丁男、 For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;
16 約押與以色列衆居彼六月、迨其地之丁男殲焉、 (For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)
17 時、哈達尚幼、與父臣僕以東數人、遁於埃及、 That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.
18 自米甸啟行、至巴蘭、由彼攜人、偕至埃及、覲埃及王法老、王賜以第宅、定其糈糧、錫以土地、 And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.
19 哈達蒙厚恩於法老前、法老以其后答比匿妹妻之、 And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.
20 生子基努拔、答比匿使在法老宮斷乳、基努拔遂居宮中、與法老諸子偕、 And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s household among the sons of Pharaoh.
21 哈達在埃及聞大衞與列祖偕眠、軍長約押已死、則謂法老曰、容我歸故土、 And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.
22 法老曰、爾與我偕、何所缺、致欲歸故土耶、對曰、我無所缺、惟請容我歸、○ Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.
23 上帝又興一敵、以利亞大子利遜、以攻所羅門、昔利遜逃其主、瑣巴王哈大底謝、 And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:
24 大衞殺瑣巴人時、利遜集人成羣、而爲其首、往居大馬色、在彼爲王、 And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.
25 所羅門存日、哈達爲患而外、利遜爲亞蘭王、憾以色列人、亦爲其敵、○ And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.
26 以法蓮族、洗利達人、尼八子耶羅波安、其母名洗魯阿、嫠婦也、彼爲所羅門臣僕、亦起而叛王、 And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon’s servant, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.
27 其叛逆之故、乃因所羅門建米羅、修其父大衞城之破壞、 And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.
28 耶羅波安乃勇士、所羅門見其少年殷勤、委之督約瑟家之工、 And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.
29 時、耶羅波安出耶路撒冷、示羅人先知亞希雅、遇之於途、亞希雅衣新衣、惟二人在田野、 And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:
30 亞希雅取其所衣之新衣、裂爲十二、 And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:
31 謂之曰、爾取其十、蓋以色列之上帝耶和華曰、我必分裂此國、奪於所羅門手、以十支派予爾、 And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:
32 惟因我僕大衞、及我於以色列支派中、所簡之邑耶路撒冷故、彼必得一支派、 (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)
33 我之行此、乃因其人棄我、崇拜西頓人之女神亞斯他錄、摩押之神基抹、亞捫族之神米勒公、不從我道、行我所悅、不守我之典章律例、如父大衞所爲、 Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
34 然我不奪全國於其手、必使之爲君、以畢其生、緣我所簡之僕大衞、守我誡命典章故也、 Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant’s sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:
35 惟必奪國於其子手、以十支派予爾、 But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.
36 以一支派予其子、使我僕大衞、在我前恆有燈光、於我所簡耶路撒冷、卽我寄名之所、 And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.
37 我將簡爾、俾從所欲而主治、爲以色列王、 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.
38 爾若聽我所命、從我之道、行我所悅、守我典章誡命、如我僕大衞所爲、我必偕爾、爲爾建鞏固之家室、如爲大衞所建、且以以色列族畀爾、 And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
39 我必困苦大衞之裔、然不至久遠、 And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.
40 緣此、所羅門欲殺耶羅波安、耶羅波安起而遁於埃及、至埃及王示撒、居彼、迨所羅門薨、○ Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.
41 所羅門其餘事蹟、凡其所爲、與其智慧、俱載於所羅門紀、 And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?
42 所羅門在耶路撒冷、爲以色列全國之王、歷四十年、 And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.
43 所羅門與列祖偕眠、葬於父大衞城、子羅波安嗣位、 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
