| 1 | 越至七年、耶何耶大自強、召百夫長、耶羅罕子亞撒利雅、約哈難子以實瑪利、俄備得子亞撒利雅、亞大雅子瑪西雅、細基利子以利沙法、與之立約、 | And in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with him. |
| 2 | 衆乃遍行猶大、自猶大諸邑、集利未人、及以色列族長、咸至耶路撒冷、 | And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem. |
| 3 | 會衆在上帝室與王立約、耶何耶大謂衆曰、王子必當嗣位、循耶和華論大衞子孫之言、 | And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said unto them, Behold, the king’s son shall reign, as the Lord hath said of the sons of David. |
| 4 | 今當如是而行、祭司及利未人安息日入值者、三分之一爲司閽、 | This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you entering on the sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the doors; |
| 5 | 三分之一守王宮、三分之一守基址門、民衆在耶和華室院、 | And a third part shall be at the king’s house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the Lord. |
| 6 | 祭司及供役之利未人爲聖、可入耶和華室、其外不許他人入之、民衆當守耶和華所命、 | But let none come into the house of the Lord, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy: but all the people shall keep the watch of the Lord. |
| 7 | 利未人各執器械而環王、凡入室者、必殺之、王出入時、必偕之、 | And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out. |
| 8 | 利未人與猶大衆、皆遵祭司耶何耶大之命、各率其人、安息日入值退值者、蓋祭司耶何耶大不令退值之班歸也、 | So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses. |
| 9 | 祭司耶何耶大以上帝室大衞王之戈盾干、予百夫長、 | Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David’s, which were in the house of God. |
| 10 | 使民衆各執器械而立、自室右至室左、附壇與室、在王四周、 | And he set all the people, every man having his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and the temple, by the king round about. |
| 11 | 遂導王子出、加冕於其首、予以法律、立之爲王、耶何耶大及其子膏之、衆曰、願王萬歲、 | Then they brought out the king’s son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king. |
| 12 | 亞他利雅聞民奔走頌王之聲、則入耶和華室、至於民所、 | Now when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the Lord: |
| 13 | 望見王立於室門柱側、百夫長與吹角者、侍於王側、四境之民歡欣吹角、謳歌者以樂器和衆頌美、亞他利雅裂衣、呼曰、叛矣、叛矣、 | And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason. |
| 14 | 祭司耶何耶大率統軍之百夫長出、命曰、由隊伍之間擁之出、隨其後者、必殺以刃、蓋祭司曰、勿殺之於耶和華室、 | Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said, Slay her not in the house of the Lord. |
| 15 | 遂辟易而出之、至附近馬門之王宮、殺之於彼、○ | So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king’s house, they slew her there. |
| 16 | 耶何耶大與民及王立約、必爲耶和華之民、 | And Jehoiada made a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, that they should be the Lord’s people. |
| 17 | 民衆皆往巴力廟毀之、摧其壇、碎其像、殺巴力之祭司瑪坦於壇前、 | Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. |
| 18 | 耶何耶大設官守耶和華室、使利未人祭司掌之、昔大衞分其班次於耶和華室、使獻燔祭於耶和華、循摩西律所載、歡呼謳歌、依大衞所定之例、 | Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the Lord by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the Lord, to offer the burnt offerings of the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David. |
| 19 | 又立閽人守耶和華室門、凡不潔者、不許入之、 | And he set the porters at the gates of the house of the Lord, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in. |
| 20 | 乃率百夫長、貴胄民長、以及四境之民、自耶和華室、導王而下、由上門入王宮、俾踐國位、 | And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the Lord: and they came through the high gate into the king’s house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom. |
| 21 | 四境之民歡樂、邑內平康、亞他利雅見殺以刃、 | And all the people of the land rejoiced: and the city was quiet, after that they had slain Athaliah with the sword. |
