1 夏瑣王耶賓旣聞此事、遣人往見瑪頓王約巴、曁伸崙押煞二王、 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
2 與居北方山地、曁基尼烈南之亞拉巴、那弗多珥西之窪地諸王、 And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,
3 及居東西之迦南人、與亞摩利人、赫人、比利洗人、並居山地之耶布斯人、米斯巴地、黑門山麓之希未人、 And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
4 皆率軍旅而出、其人多如海沙、車馬甚衆、 And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.
5 列王咸集、建營米倫水濱、欲與以色列人戰、 And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.
6 耶和華諭約書亞曰、勿緣之而懼、明日此時、我以見殺之衆、付以色列人、爾當斷其馬筋、焚其車輛、 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.
7 約書亞率軍旅、猝至米倫水濱攻之、 So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.
8 耶和華付之於以色列人手、遂擊之、追至大西頓、與米斯利弗瑪音、迄於東方之米斯巴平原、俱翦滅之、靡有孑遺、 And the Lord delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth–maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.
9 約書亞遵耶和華命而行、斷其馬筋、焚其車輛、 And Joshua did unto them as the Lord bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.
10 夏瑣素爲諸國之首、約書亞返取之、刃擊其王、 And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.
11 以色列人刃擊居民、悉行翦滅、凡有氣息者、靡有孑遺、火焚夏瑣、 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.
12 約書亞取斯諸邑與其王、刃擊其衆、而翦滅之、循耶和華僕摩西所命、 And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the Lord commanded.
13 建於山岡之邑、以色列人不焚、惟夏瑣爲約書亞所燬、 But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.
14 諸邑貨財牲畜、以色列人取而歸己、人則以刃擊之、至於盡滅、凡有氣息者、靡有孑遺、 And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.
15 昔耶和華所命其僕摩西、摩西傳命約書亞者、約書亞悉遵行之、一無所違、○ As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.
16 約書亞盡取斯土、卽山地、南土、歌珊四境、及其窪地、亞拉巴與以色列山地、及其窪地、 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
17 自上西珥之哈拉山、至黑門山麓、利巴嫩谷之巴力迦得、並取其王、擊而殺之、 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baal–gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.
18 約書亞與諸王相戰日久、 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
19 居基遍之希未人而外、無一邑與以色列人修好者、以色列人悉戰而取之、 There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.
20 蓋耶和華聽其剛愎厥心、與以色列人戰、而被翦滅、不蒙矜恤、循耶和華諭摩西之命、○ For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the Lord commanded Moses.
21 是時約書亞往山地、滅亞衲族、卽自希伯崙、底璧、亞拿伯、猶大山地、以色列山地、盡滅其衆、而毀其邑、 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
22 亞衲族於以色列地、靡有孑遺、惟於迦薩、迦特、亞實突有之、 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
23 約書亞循耶和華諭摩西之命、取斯全地、以給以色列人爲業、依其支派班列、厥後其地息戰、 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
