| 1 | 耶路撒冷王亞多尼洗德、聞約書亞取艾盡滅之、待艾與王、如昔之待耶利哥及其王然、亦聞基遍居民與以色列人修好、而處其中、 | Now it came to pass, when Adoni–zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them; |
| 2 | 則懼甚、蓋基遍爲大邑、如王都、較艾尤大、人皆勇士、 | That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty. |
| 3 | 於是耶路撒冷王亞多尼洗德、遣人見希伯崙王何咸、耶末王毘蘭、拉吉王雅非亞、伊磯倫王底璧、告之曰、 | Wherefore Adoni–zedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying, |
| 4 | 其來助我、以擊基遍、因其與約書亞及以色列人修好、 | Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel. |
| 5 | 亞摩利五王、卽耶路撒冷王、希伯崙王、耶末王、拉吉王、伊磯倫王、遂相會集、率諸軍往基遍、建營攻之、 | Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it. |
| 6 | 基遍人遣使至吉甲營、見約書亞曰、居山之亞摩利諸王、集以攻我、請爾速來、救助爾僕、勿遲、 | And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us. |
| 7 | 約書亞與軍旅勇士、遂自吉甲而往、 | So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour. |
| 8 | 耶和華諭約書亞曰、勿懼之、我付之於爾手、無一能禦爾者、 | And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee. |
| 9 | 約書亞自吉甲終夜而行、猝然臨敵、 | Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night. |
| 10 | 耶和華潰敵於以色列人前、遂於基遍大行殺戮、追及伯和崙阪擊之、至於亞西加、瑪基大、 | And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Beth–horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah. |
| 11 | 適敵遁於以色列人前、在伯和崙阪、耶和華自天降大雹擊之、至亞西加、死於雹者、較以色列人以刃殺者尤衆、 | And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth–horon, that the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword. |
| 12 | 耶和華以亞摩利人付以色列族之日、約書亞祈禱耶和華、在以色列衆前曰、日其停於基遍、月其止於亞雅崙谷兮、 | Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. |
| 13 | 日則停、月則止、待民復仇於敵、此事非書於雅煞珥紀乎、載云、日停於天中、不速下者竟日、 | And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. |
| 14 | 前乎此、後乎此、未有如是之一日、耶和華俯聽人言、爲以色列人戰也、○ | And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel. |
| 15 | 約書亞與以色列衆返吉甲營、 | And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal. |
| 16 | 五王逃至瑪基大、匿於穴、 | But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah. |
| 17 | 或告約書亞曰、五王旣遇、匿於瑪基大穴、 | And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah. |
| 18 | 約書亞曰、轉大石於穴口、使人守之、 | And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them: |
| 19 | 爾衆勿緩、追襲爾敵、擊其後軍、勿容入邑、爾上帝耶和華付之於爾手矣、 | And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the Lord your God hath delivered them into your hand. |
| 20 | 約書亞與以色列人大行殺戮、而翦滅之、其餘入於堅城、 | And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities. |
| 21 | 民則安返瑪基大營、見約書亞、無人鼓舌、訾以色列族者、 | And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel. |
| 22 | 約書亞曰、啟穴口、攜五王出而詣我、 | Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave. |
| 23 | 遂攜耶路撒冷希伯崙耶末拉吉伊磯倫五王、出穴、詣之、 | And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon. |
| 24 | 旣攜詣約書亞、約書亞召以色列衆至、謂諸軍長曰、來前、足踐王頸、遂前踐之、 | And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them. |
| 25 | 約書亞謂之曰、勿畏葸、勿恐惶、強乃心、壯乃志、耶和華待爾所攻之敵、俱必如是、 | And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight. |
| 26 | 厥後、約書亞擊殺之、懸諸五木、至於日暮、 | And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening. |
| 27 | 日入時、循約書亞命、取屍下木、擲於所匿之穴、置大石於穴口、至今猶存、○ | And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave’s mouth, which remain until this very day. |
| 28 | 是日約書亞取瑪基大、刃擊其邑與其王、滅其居民、靡有孑遺、其待瑪基大王、如昔之待耶利哥王然、 | And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho. |
| 29 | 約書亞與以色列衆、自瑪基大往攻立拿、 | Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah: |
| 30 | 耶和華以邑與王、付於以色列人手、刃擊其邑、殺其居民、靡有孑遺、其待立拿王、如昔之待耶利哥王然、 | And the Lord delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho. |
| 31 | 約書亞與以色列衆、自立拿往拉吉、建營攻之、 | And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it: |
| 32 | 耶和華以拉吉付於以色列人手、翌日取之、擊之以刃、殺其居民、如待立拿然、 | And the Lord delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah. |
| 33 | 時基色王荷蘭來助拉吉、約書亞擊之、及其民衆、靡有孑遺、 | Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining. |
| 34 | 約書亞與以色列衆、自拉吉往伊磯倫、建營攻之、 | And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it: |
| 35 | 卽日取之、擊之以刃、滅其居民、如待拉吉然、 | And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish. |
| 36 | 約書亞與以色列衆、自伊磯倫往攻希伯崙、 | And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it: |
| 37 | 取之、刃擊其邑與其王、曁厥屬邑、殺其居民、靡有孑遺、如待伊磯倫然、其邑與民、悉翦滅之、 | And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein. |
| 38 | 約書亞與以色列衆、返攻底璧、 | And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it: |
| 39 | 取之、並取其王、曁厥屬邑、以刃擊之、滅其居民、靡有孑遺、其待底璧與其王、如待希伯崙立拿與其王然、 | And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king. |
| 40 | 如是約書亞徧擊四境、山地、山麓、南土、窪地、及其諸王、靡有孑遺、凡有氣息者、悉翦滅之、循以色列之上帝耶和華所命、 | So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel commanded. |
| 41 | 自加低斯巴尼亞至迦薩、又歌珊四境、爰及基遍、悉爲約書亞所擊、 | And Joshua smote them from Kadesh–barnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon. |
| 42 | 斯王與其土地、約書亞一時取之、蓋以色列之上帝耶和華爲以色列人戰也、 | And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel. |
| 43 | 約書亞與以色列衆、遂返吉甲營、 | And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal. |
