| 1 | 爾中之戰鬬爭競奚自哉、非自戰於爾百體中之慾乎、 | From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? |
| 2 | 爾欲而不得、爾殺爾嫉而不能得、戰鬬也、爭競也、爾之無所得者、以爾不求也、 | Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. |
| 3 | 爾求而不得、以爾妄求、欲用之於爾慾也、 | Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. |
| 4 | 淫亂者乎、爾豈不知友於世、乃敵上帝乎、凡欲爲世之友者、自爲上帝敵也、 | Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. |
| 5 | 爾意經言豈徒然哉、其所使居於我儕之靈、詎戀慕以至媢嫉乎、 | Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? |
| 6 | 惟彼賜恩尤大、故曰、上帝拒驕傲者、賜恩於謙卑者、 | But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. |
| 7 | 是以爾宜服於上帝、惟禦魔、魔則遁、 | Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. |
| 8 | 近上帝、上帝則近爾、干罪者淨乃手、貳心者潔乃心、 | Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. |
| 9 | 宜負苦悲泣、易笑爲哀、易樂爲憂、 | Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. |
| 10 | 自卑於主前、主則升爾、○ | Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. |
| 11 | 兄弟乎、毋相詆、詆兄弟擬兄弟者、是詆律擬律也、爾若擬律、則非守律者、乃擬之者矣、 | Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. |
| 12 | 立律而擬之者惟一、能救能滅者是也、爾爲誰、而擬人乎、○ | There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? |
| 13 | 噫、爾言今日明日將往某邑、寓彼一年、貿易獲利、 | Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: |
| 14 | 但明日如何、爾不知也、爾生命伊何、猶雲霧耳、暫見而卽無矣、 | Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. |
| 15 | 寧言若主有旨、我儕且生、行此行彼、 | For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. |
| 16 | 今爾乃以虛誕自詡、凡此者非善也、 | But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. |
| 17 | 蓋知善而不行者、罪也、 | Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. |
