| 1 | 爾上帝耶和華旣滅諸族、以地錫爾、使爾繼之、居於其邑、其室、 | When the Lord thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the Lord thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses; |
| 2 | 則當於爾上帝耶和華所賜爲業之地、區別三邑、 | Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it. |
| 3 | 以其所賜之地、分爲三區、修築道途、俾誤殺人者可遁於彼、 | Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither. |
| 4 | 誤殺人者遁於彼而得生、有定例焉、素無仇怨、而誤殺人、 | And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past; |
| 5 | 如人結侶入林伐木、斫時斧脫於柯、中侶致死、其人必遁於斯邑而得生、 | As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live: |
| 6 | 免報復者、心急追之、以路遙遠、及而殺之、然彼與見殺者、素無仇怨、罪不應死、 | Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past. |
| 7 | 故我諭爾區別三邑、 | Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee. |
| 8 | 我今所諭之命、爾果謹守、愛爾上帝耶和華、恆行其道、蒙爾上帝耶和華踐其所誓爾祖之言、恢廓爾境、以所許賜爾祖之地錫爾、則必於三邑之外、別設三邑、 | And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers; |
| 9 | 我今所諭之命、爾果謹守、愛爾上帝耶和華、恆行其道、蒙爾上帝耶和華踐其所誓爾祖之言、恢廓爾境、以所許賜爾祖之地錫爾、則必於三邑之外、別設三邑、 | If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three: |
| 10 | 免無辜之血、流於爾上帝耶和華所賜爲業之地、流血之罪歸爾、 | That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee. |
| 11 | 如人憾其鄰里、伏而擊之致死、逃於斯邑之一、 | But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities: |
| 12 | 其邑之長老、必遣人執之、付於報復者之手、而致之死、 | Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. |
| 13 | 爾勿惜之、必除無辜之血於以色列中、俾爾獲福、○ | Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee. |
| 14 | 爾於爾上帝耶和華所賜之地、旣得爲業、則鄰里之界址、前人所定者、毋得遷移、○ | Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it. |
| 15 | 人有所犯、無論何罪、證者惟一、毋聽之、必憑二三證者之言、以定其讞、 | One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. |
| 16 | 如有妄證、起而罪人、 | If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong; |
| 17 | 訟者二人當就耶和華、立於當時之祭司士師前、 | Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days; |
| 18 | 士師詳察、其證果僞、欲害昆弟、 | And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother; |
| 19 | 則必以其所欲加諸昆弟者、加乎其身、以除惡於爾中、 | Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you. |
| 20 | 他人聞之必懼、不復行此惡事、 | And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you. |
| 21 | 爾毋惜之、必以命償命、目償目、齒償齒、手償手、足償足、 | And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. |
