1 故當愛爾上帝耶和華、恆守其諭、及其典章、律例誡命、 Therefore thou shalt love the Lord thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.
2 爾之子女、我不與之言、因其未知未見爾上帝耶和華之督責、及其大威、能手奮臂、 And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the Lord your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,
3 異蹟奇事、所行於埃及法老王、與其全國、 And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;
4 及於埃及軍旅車馬追爾時、使紅海之水覆沒之、翦滅之、以迄今日、 And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the Lord hath destroyed them unto this day;
5 爾由曠野至此、所行於爾、 And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came into this place;
6 及於流便裔、以利押子大坍、亞比蘭、使地啟口吞之、與其眷屬、帷幕人物、絕於以色列族中、 And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
7 耶和華所爲之大事、惟爾目擊、 But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the Lord which he did.
8 故我今日所諭爾之誡命、爾當恪守、致強厥志、以入所往而得之地、 Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;
9 延年於耶和華誓賜爾祖、及其後裔之土、卽流乳與蜜之地、 And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the Lord sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
10 爾所出之埃及地、旣播其種、以足導水灌之、如灌蔬圃、 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
11 惟爾所往而得之地不然、乃有陵谷、自受天雨、 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
12 乃爾上帝耶和華眷顧之地、自年始迄歲終、垂顧不已、○ A land which the Lord thy God careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
13 我今所諭之誡命、爾若聽從、愛爾上帝耶和華、一心一意而奉事之、 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
14 則必降雨於地、春秋以時、使爾獲穀、及酒與油、食之而飽、 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
15 野有草萊、以養牲畜、 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
16 爾其愼之、勿受惑而轉移、崇事他神、 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
17 致耶和華震怒擊爾、使天閉塞不雨、物產不生、爾則於耶和華所賜之美地、必速滅亡、 And then the Lord’s wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the Lord giveth you.
18 故爾必以我言、藏於衷、存於心、繫於手以爲號、戴於額以爲飾、 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
19 誨爾子女、坐於室、行於路、或寢或興、恆論乎此、 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
20 書於爾室門柱、及爾邑門、 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
21 俾爾與子、增加時日、於耶和華誓賜爾祖之地、如天覆地之久、 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
22 若守我所諭爾之誡命、於爾上帝耶和華愛之附之、而行其道、 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
23 則耶和華必於爾前、逐此較爾強大之族、使爾據有其土、 Then will the Lord drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
24 爾足所履之地、必爲爾有、自曠野至利巴嫩、自伯拉大河至西海、悉爲爾境、 Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
25 必無人能禦爾、於爾所履之地、爾上帝耶和華、必使其民悚懼恐惶、以踐其言、○ There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the Lord your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
26 今日我以祝與詛置於爾前、 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
27 爾若聽爾上帝耶和華之誡命、卽我所諭爾者、則必受祝、 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day:
28 若弗聽之、轉離我今所諭爾之道、而從素所未識之神、則必受詛、 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
29 旣至爾上帝耶和華導入爲業之地、當以祝詞宣於基利心山、以詛詞宣於以巴路山、 And it shall come to pass, when the Lord thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.
30 此二山、非在約但西、日入之處、居亞拉巴之迦南人境內、與吉甲相對、近摩利之橡林乎、 Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?
31 爾將渡約但、入據爾上帝耶和華所賜之地、而居於彼、 For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.
32 我今陳於爾前之典章律例、當謹守遵行焉、 And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
