1 哈拿禱曰、我心因耶和華歡悅、我角因耶和華崢嶸、我口向敵而孔張、因爾拯救而喜樂、 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
2 惟耶和華爲聖、無如之者、其外無他、無有磐石、似我上帝、 There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
3 勿復出言驕矜、勿容口發狂妄、蓋耶和華爲睿智之上帝、人之所行、爲彼所衡、 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
4 勇士折其弓、躓者束以力、 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
5 素飽足者爲傭得食、飢餓者不復飢、不育者乃產七子、多子者反致衰弱、 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.
6 耶和華殺人生人、使人歸墓、使人復起、 The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.
7 耶和華使人貧、使人富、使人卑微、使人高顯、 The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
8 舉貧賤者於塵埃、拔匱乏者於糞壤、使坐牧伯之間、俾嗣尊榮之位、蓋地之柱屬耶和華、立宇宙於其上、 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and he hath set the world upon them.
9 彼之聖民、必護衞其步履、使惡人緘默於幽暗、蓋恃力者、無有得勝也、 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
10 與耶和華爭者、必被擊碎、彼必自天以雷擊之、耶和華將行鞫於地極、賜力於其王、高其受膏者之角、 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
11 以利加拿往拉瑪、歸其家、小子在祭司以利前、奉事耶和華、○ And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the Lord before Eli the priest.
12 以利二子、匪類也、不識耶和華、 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.
13 其爲祭司、與民立規、人獻祭烹肉時、祭司之僕至、手執三股之叉、 And the priests’ custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest’s servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;
14 入於釜甑鼎鑊、叉所得者、祭司取之、凡以色列族至示羅者、祭司待之若此、 And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.
15 未焚脂、祭司之僕至、謂獻祭者曰、給肉於祭司以炙、彼不取爾烹者、必取生腥、 Also before they burnt the fat, the priest’s servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.
16 如人曰、必先焚脂、然後任爾所欲取之、彼則曰、非也、今當予我、不然、我強取之、 And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force.
17 二少者之罪、耶和華視爲甚重、蓋輕視耶和華之祭也、○ Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord: for men abhorred the offering of the Lord.
18 撒母耳尚幼、衣枲聖衣、侍於耶和華前、 But Samuel ministered before the Lord, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.
19 母爲之歲作小袍、偕夫往獻歲祭時、攜而予之、 Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
20 以利爲以利加拿及其妻祝嘏曰、願耶和華由此婦賜爾後裔、以代從耶和華所求者、夫婦遂歸、 And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The Lord give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the Lord. And they went unto their own home.
21 耶和華眷顧哈拿、彼則懷姙、生三子二女、小子撒母耳生長於耶和華前、○ And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the Lord.
22 以利年邁、聞其子待以色列衆之事、並聞其與會幕門供役之婦同寢、 Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
23 謂之曰、我由民衆聞爾惡行、胡爲作此、 And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.
24 我子、勿爾、我所風聞、非善言也、爾使耶和華之民干罪、 Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the Lord’s people to transgress.
25 人若相犯、上帝鞫之、若犯耶和華、誰爲之祈、惟二子不聽父言、蓋耶和華決意殺之、 If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the Lord, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the Lord would slay them.
26 小子撒母耳漸長、益得耶和華與人之愛、○ And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the Lord, and also with men.
27 有上帝僕至以利曰、耶和華云、爾祖之家、在埃及法老室、我非向之顯見乎、 And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh’s house?
28 以色列支派中、我非簡彼爲我祭司、使焚香於我壇、衣聖衣於我前乎、以色列族所獻之火祭、我非賜爾祖之家乎、 And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?
29 我所命獻於我室之祭品禮物、爾何踐踏之、重爾子過於我、取我民以色列所獻之嘉者、以肥己乎、 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?
30 故以色列之上帝耶和華曰、昔我有言、爾與爾祖之家、將恆久行於我前、今我則曰、決不如是、凡尊我者、我必重之、凡藐我者、我必輕之、 Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
31 其日將至、必斷爾臂、及爾祖家之臂、使爾家中無一耆老、 Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father’s house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.
32 以色列富有之際、爾必目擊敵在我室、爾家永無耆老、 And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever.
33 爾家之人、我不滅於我壇者、必使爾目壞心憂、爾家所育、皆必壯年夭逝、 And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age.
34 爾之二子、何弗尼非尼哈所遇之事、可以爲徵、彼必同日而亡、 And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.
35 我將挺生忠藎之祭司、彼將循我心意而行、我必鞏固其家、彼必恆久行於我受膏者前、 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.
36 爾家所遺、必來拜之、求一金一餅、曰、請立我任祭司之職、俾得少許之餅以食、 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests’ offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
