1 約瑟子瑪拿西族、瑪拿西元孫、瑪吉曾孫、基列孫、希弗子西羅非哈之女瑪拉、挪阿、曷拉、密迦、得撒、 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
2 俱至會幕門、立於摩西與祭司以利亞撒、及會長會衆之前曰、 And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
3 我父死於曠野、不在可拉黨中、集攻耶和華、第爲己罪而死、而無子嗣、 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
4 何因無子、而删其名、絕於譜系、請在叔伯之中、以產予我、 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.
5 摩西以其事呈於耶和華、 And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.
6 耶和華諭摩西曰、 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
7 西羅非哈女之言是也、必以其父之產歸之、俾在叔伯中有其恆業、 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
8 爾告以色列族云、如人死而無子、必歸其業於女、 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
9 無女則歸諸兄弟、 And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.
10 無兄弟則歸諸叔伯、 And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren.
11 無叔伯則歸諸近親、爲以色列族之典章律例、循耶和華所諭摩西之命、○ And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the Lord commanded Moses.
12 耶和華諭摩西曰、爾陟亞巴琳山、觀我所賜以色列族之地、 And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.
13 爾旣觀之、必歸乃祖、如爾兄亞倫然、 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.
14 昔在尋野水濱、會衆紛爭、爾曹悖逆我命、不於民前尊我爲聖、所言之水、在加低斯米利巴、 For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.
15 摩西籲耶和華曰、 And Moses spake unto the Lord, saying,
16 請耶和華、世人諸神之上帝、簡立一人、統轄會衆、 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
17 出入其前、導之往返、免耶和華會衆、猶羊之無牧、 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
18 耶和華諭摩西曰、嫩之子約書亞、乃感於神、汝可取之、按手其上、 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
19 置於祭司以利亞撒及會衆前、付託以命、 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.
20 以汝尊榮、加諸其身、使以色列會衆無不聽從、 And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.
21 彼必立於祭司以利亞撒前、以利亞撒爲之諮諏烏陵於耶和華前、彼及以色列會衆、必聽其命而出、亦聽其命而入、 And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the Lord: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
22 摩西遵耶和華命、取約書亞、使立於祭司以利亞撒及會衆前、 And Moses did as the Lord commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
23 按手其上、以命託之、循耶和華所諭摩西之命、 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses.
