1 利未之裔、哥轄孫、以斯哈子可拉、流便之裔、以利押子大坍、亞比蘭、比勒子安、 Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
2 與以色列會衆之牧伯、卽有名譽之議士、二百五十人、集攻摩西亞倫、 And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
3 曰、爾逾分矣、會衆盡皆爲聖、耶和華亦在其中、爾奚自大、欲超軼於耶和華之會衆乎、 And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the Lord?
4 摩西聞而俯伏、 And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
5 語可拉及其黨曰、詰朝、耶和華必明示爾曹、誰屬之、誰爲聖、俾進其前、彼所簡者、得以近之、 And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the Lord will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.
6 爾可拉及爾黨、當如是行、 This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company;
7 明日執鼎盛火、置香於耶和華前、耶和華所簡者、卽以爲聖、汝利未裔逾分矣、 And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the Lord to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the Lord doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
8 又語可拉曰、汝利未裔、宜聽我言、 And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
9 以色列之上帝、區別爾曹於會衆、使近其前、服役於耶和華幕、立會衆前、以爲供役、其事豈微細哉、 Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?
10 旣使爾及兄弟利未裔、近於其前、爾猶覬覦祭司之職乎、 And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
11 爾及爾黨之集、乃攻耶和華、亞倫何人、致爾怨之、 For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the Lord: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?
12 摩西使人召以利押子大坍、亞比蘭、對曰、不往、 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:
13 爾攜我儕出流乳與蜜之地、欲殺於野、其事豈微細哉、尚欲自立、爲我君乎、 Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us?
14 爾未導我至流乳與蜜之地、未嘗賜我田疇、及葡萄園、豈欲抉斯衆之目乎、我不往、 Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
15 摩西怒甚、謂耶和華曰、勿眷顧其所獻、我未取其一驢、害其一人、 And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the Lord, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.
16 乃謂可拉曰、明日爾與爾黨、偕亞倫詣耶和華前、 And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the Lord, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:
17 人各執鼎、置香於中、共二百五十鼎、爾及亞倫、亦各執鼎、詣耶和華前、 And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the Lord every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each of you his censer.
18 遂各執鼎、燃火置香、與摩西亞倫立於會幕門、 And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.
19 可拉集會衆、至幕門攻之、耶和華之榮光顯見、會衆目擊、○ And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the Lord appeared unto all the congregation.
20 耶和華諭摩西亞倫曰、 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
21 爾其離此會衆、俟我滅之於俄頃、 Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
22 二人俯伏曰、上帝、世人諸神之上帝歟、曷因一人干罪、而怒及會衆乎、 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
23 耶和華諭摩西曰、 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
24 爾命會衆、離可拉大坍亞比蘭幕之四周、 Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
25 摩西乃起、往大坍亞比蘭所、以色列長老隨其後、 And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.
26 摩西謂會衆曰、離此惡黨之幕、勿捫其物、恐與其罪、與之偕亡、 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
27 衆遂離可拉大坍亞比蘭幕之四周、大坍亞比蘭出、立於幕門、妻孥偕之、 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
28 摩西曰、耶和華遣我行此、非由我意、爾可知焉、 And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the Lord hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
29 倘彼如常而終、所遇與衆無異、則知耶和華未嘗遣我、 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the Lord hath not sent me.
30 倘耶和華創行新事、使地張口、吞噬其衆、及凡所有、生墮陰府、則知其人藐視耶和華矣、 But if the Lord make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the Lord.
31 言竟、其下土壤坼裂、 And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
32 地張厥口、吞噬可拉徒黨、與其眷屬什物、 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
33 彼曁所有、悉生墮於陰府、地復合之、致彼絕於會中、 They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.
34 以色列族在於四周、聞其號呼而遁、曰、恐我儕亦爲地所吞、 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.
35 火自耶和華出、燬其焚香者二百五十人、○ And there came out a fire from the Lord, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.
36 耶和華諭摩西曰、 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
37 告祭司亞倫子以利亞撒云、取鼎於火中、傾其爇炭於他處、蓋鼎爲聖、 Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.
38 人雖犯罪、自殞厥命、然其鼎嘗奉於耶和華、故爲聖、當取而擣之成片、以包祭壇、爲以色列族之鑑戒、 The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the Lord, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
39 祭司以利亞撒遂取奉火見燬者之銅鼎、擣之以包祭壇、 And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:
40 爲以色列族之記誌、以示外人非亞倫之裔者、不得近而焚香於耶和華前、恐遭厥害、若可拉及其黨然、遵耶和華所諭摩西之命、○ To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the Lord; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the Lord said to him by the hand of Moses.
41 詰旦、以色列會衆怨摩西亞倫曰、耶和華之民、爲爾所戮、 But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the Lord.
42 會衆集攻摩西亞倫時、瞻望會幕、爲雲所覆、耶和華之榮光顯見、 And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.
43 摩西亞倫至會幕前、 And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.
44 耶和華諭摩西曰、 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
45 離此會衆、我將滅之於俄頃、二人俯伏、 Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.
46 摩西告亞倫曰、耶和華震怒、疫癘已起、爾當執鼎、取壇上之火、置香、急詣會衆、代爲贖罪、 And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the Lord; the plague is begun.
47 亞倫循摩西言取鼎、趨詣會中、疫癘已起、 And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.
48 乃立於生者死者間、焚香爲民贖罪、疫癘始弭、 And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
49 緣可拉事而殞者外、遘疫而死者、計一萬四千七百人、 Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.
50 疫癘旣止、亞倫反見摩西於會幕門、 And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.
