| 2 | 耶和華曰、我愛爾、爾曰、於何愛我、耶和華曰、以掃非雅各之兄乎、然我愛雅各、 | I have loved you, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the Lord: yet I loved Jacob, |
| 3 | 惡以掃、使其山荒蕪、以其業畀野犬、 | And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness. |
| 4 | 以東曰、我雖傾覆、必復建荒墟之處、萬軍之耶和華云、彼將建之、我必毀之、人將稱之爲惡境、其人爲耶和華恆怒之民、 | Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the Lord of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord hath indignation for ever. |
| 5 | 爾必目覩之、曰、願耶和華爲大於以色列境之外、○ | And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The Lord will be magnified from the border of Israel. |
| 6 | 萬軍之耶和華曰、輕視我名之祭司歟、子尊其父、僕尊其主、我若爲父、尊我者安在、我若爲主、畏我者安在、爾曰、我於何事輕視爾名乎、 | A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the Lord of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? |
| 7 | 爾以不潔之餅、奉於我壇、猶曰我於何事汚爾乎、爾言耶和華之几、可藐視也、 | Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the Lord is contemptible. |
| 8 | 萬軍之耶和華曰、爾獻瞽牲爲祭、豈非惡乎、爾獻跛牲病牲、豈非惡乎、今試奉於爾之方伯、彼豈悅爾、而納爾乎、 | And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the Lord of hosts. |
| 9 | 萬軍之耶和華曰、爾旣行此、試求上帝施恩、使加矜憫、彼豈納爾中一人乎、 | And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the Lord of hosts. |
| 10 | 深願爾中有人閉門、免徒爇火於我壇、萬軍之耶和華曰、我不悅爾、不納爾手所獻之物、 | Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought? neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand. |
| 11 | 萬軍之耶和華曰、自日出至日入之處、我名爲大於列邦、隨在有人爲之焚香、獻清潔之祭品、蓋我名爲大於列邦也、 | For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the Lord of hosts. |
| 12 | 惟爾侮之、曰、耶和華之几不潔、其上之食品、可藐視也、 | But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the Lord is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible. |
| 13 | 萬軍之耶和華曰、爾謂行此諸事、何其煩勞、遂輕慢之、耶和華曰、爾以所強奪者、及跛牲病牲、獻之爲祭、我豈由爾手而納之乎、 | Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the Lord of hosts; and ye brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the Lord. |
| 14 | 譎者許願、羣中原有牡牲、乃以殘廢之牲獻主、其人可詛、我乃大君、我名在列邦中爲可畏、萬軍之耶和華言之矣、 | But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the Lord of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen. |
