| 1 | 耶穌見衆、乃登山、旣坐、門徒就焉、 | And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: |
| 2 | 啟口訓之曰、 | And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, |
| 3 | 虛心者福矣、以天國爲其有也、 | Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
| 4 | 哀慟者福矣、以其將受慰也、 | Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. |
| 5 | 温柔者福矣、以其將承地也、 | Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. |
| 6 | 飢渴慕義者福矣、以其將得飽也、 | Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. |
| 7 | 矜恤者福矣、以其將見矜恤也、 | Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. |
| 8 | 清心者福矣、以其將見上帝也、 | Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. |
| 9 | 致和者福矣、以其將稱爲上帝子也、 | Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. |
| 10 | 爲義而見窘逐者福矣、以天國爲其有也、 | Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
| 11 | 人爲我而詬爾、窘爾、妄以諸惡誣爾、則爾福矣、 | Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. |
| 12 | 宜欣喜歡樂、以爾在天之賞大也、蓋前乎爾之先知、人亦如是窘逐之、○ | Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. |
| 13 | 爾乃世之鹽、鹽失其味、何以復之、後無所用、惟棄於外、爲人所踐耳、 | Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. |
| 14 | 爾乃世之光、邑建於山、不能隱也、 | Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. |
| 15 | 人燃燈、不置斗下、乃置檠上、則普照同室之人、 | Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. |
| 16 | 如是、爾之光亦當照乎人前、俾人見爾善行、榮爾在天之父焉、○ | Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. |
| 17 | 勿意我來廢律、或先知也、我來非以廢之、乃以成之、 | Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. |
| 18 | 我誠語汝、天地未廢、律之一點一畫必不廢、迨皆成焉、 | For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. |
| 19 | 故廢此誡至微之一、又以是訓人者、在天國必謂之至微、惟遵行之、且以訓人者、在天國必謂之大也、 | Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. |
| 20 | 我語汝、儻爾之義、無以尚乎士子法利賽人之義、斷不能入天國也、○ | For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
| 21 | 爾聞有語古人云、勿殺、殺則干乎鞫、 | Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: |
| 22 | 惟我語汝、怒兄弟者干乎鞫、謂兄弟曰愚者、干乎公會、曰妄者、干乎火獄、 | But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. |
| 23 | 故爾獻禮於壇時、而念兄弟與爾有隙、 | Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; |
| 24 | 則留禮物於壇前、先往和乃兄弟、然後來獻爾禮物焉、 | Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. |
| 25 | 訟爾者尚偕爾於途、急與之和、恐付爾於士師、士師付爾於𨽻、而下於獄、 | Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. |
| 26 | 我誠語汝、非毫釐盡償、斷不得出也、○ | Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. |
| 27 | 爾聞有言、勿淫、 | Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: |
| 28 | 惟我語汝、見色而好之者、心已淫之矣、 | But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. |
| 29 | 設也右目陷爾於罪、則抉而棄之、寧喪百體之一、勿全身委地獄、 | And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. |
| 30 | 設也右手陷爾於罪、則斷而棄之、寧喪百體之一、勿全身入地獄、 | And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. |
| 31 | 又言若人出妻、宜以離書與之、 | It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: |
| 32 | 惟我語汝、非以姦故而出妻、是使之淫也、娶所出之妻者、亦淫也、○ | But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. |
| 33 | 爾又聞有語古人云、勿背誓、誓必償之於主、 | Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: |
| 34 | 惟我語爾、槪勿誓、勿指天、以天乃上帝座也、 | But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: |
| 35 | 勿指地、以地乃其足几也、勿指耶路撒冷、以其爲大君之京師也、 | Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. |
| 36 | 勿指爾首而誓、以爾不能使首之一髮、爲黑爲白也、 | Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. |
| 37 | 顧爾之言、宜是是否否、過此則出於惡者也、○ | But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. |
| 38 | 爾聞有言、目償目、齒償齒、 | Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: |
| 39 | 惟我語汝、勿與惡者敵、或批爾右頰、幷轉左頰以向之、 | But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. |
| 40 | 或欲訟爾、索爾裏衣、卽外服亦聽其取之、 | And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. |
| 41 | 或強爾行一里、則偕之行二里、 | And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. |
| 42 | 求爾者與之、借爾者勿却、○ | Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. |
| 43 | 爾聞有言、鄰則愛之、敵則惡之、 | Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. |
| 44 | 惟我語汝、敵爾者愛之、窘逐爾者、爲之祈禱、 | But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; |
| 45 | 則可爲爾天父之子、蓋天父使日照於善不善者、雨降於義不義者也、 | That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. |
| 46 | 爾若愛乎愛爾者、有何賞耶、稅吏不亦然乎、 | For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? |
| 47 | 爾惟問安於兄弟、有何過人耶、異邦人不亦然乎、 | And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? |
| 48 | 故當純全、若爾天父焉、 | Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. |
