1 時、有法利賽人士子、自耶路撒冷來、就耶穌曰、 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 爾之門徒、何犯古人遺傳、不盥手而食乎、 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 曰、爾何因爾遺傳、犯上帝誡乎、 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 蓋上帝曰、敬爾父母、又曰、詈父母者、必死之、 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 惟爾則曰、若人謂父母云、我所當奉於爾者、已獻於上帝矣、 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 遂可不敬父母、是爾以爾遺傳、廢上帝誡也、 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7 僞善者乎、以賽亞豫言指爾者、誠是也、 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 曰、斯民以口尊我、而心則遠我、 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 其拜我徒然、以所教者、乃人所命也、 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10 遂召衆語之曰、爾宜聽而悟也、 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11 非入諸口者汚人、惟出諸口者汚人耳、 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12 門徒就之曰、法利賽人聞斯言而慍、爾知之乎、 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13 曰、凡植物非我天父所植者、將拔之、 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 姑聽之、彼乃瞽而導者、以瞽導瞽、二者皆陷於坑矣、 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15 彼得曰、斯喻明以教我、 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 曰、爾曹猶未悟乎、 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 豈不知入口者運於腹、而遺於廁乎、 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 惟出諸口者由心而發、斯汚人也、 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 蓋惡念、兇殺、淫亂、苟合、盜竊、妄證、訕謗、 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 皆由心而發、斯乃汚人、但未盥手而食、不汚人也、○ These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
21 耶穌去彼、適推羅西頓境、 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 有迦南婦出境、呼曰、主、大衞之裔、矜恤我、我女患鬼苦甚、 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 耶穌不答、其徒至曰、婦呼於後、請遣之、 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 曰、我奉使但爲以色列家之亡羊而已、 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 婦進而拜曰、主、助我、 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 曰、取兒曹餅投狗、非宜也、 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 婦曰、主、然、狗亦食其主案下遺屑耳、 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
28 曰、婦乎、爾信大矣、如爾願成之、自是女愈、○ Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29 耶穌去彼、至加利利海濱、登山而坐、 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30 羣衆就之、攜跛者、瞽者、瘖者、殘者、及諸病者、置其足前、遂醫之、 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
31 衆見瘖者言、殘者痊、跛者行、瞽者明、則奇之、歸榮以色列之上帝、○ Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 耶穌召其徒曰、我憫斯衆、已偕我三日而無食、我不欲使之飢而去、恐途中困憊也、 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 門徒曰、在野安得若許之餅、以飽斯衆耶、 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 耶穌曰、爾有餅幾何、曰、七、及數小魚耳、 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 遂命衆席地而坐、 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 取七餅與魚、祝謝而擘之、以予門徒、門徒予衆、 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 皆食而飽、拾其屑、盈七籃、 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 食者、婦孺而外、四千人焉、 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39 耶穌散衆、登舟、入馬加丹境、 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
