| 1 | 是以我儕旣因信見義、則由我主耶穌基督和於上帝、 | Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: |
| 2 | 亦由之因信而進於恩、卽今所止者、且以仰望上帝之榮爲樂、 | By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. |
| 3 | 不寧惟是、卽處患難亦樂也、蓋知患難生強忍、 | And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; |
| 4 | 強忍生練達、練達生希望、 | And patience, experience; and experience, hope: |
| 5 | 而希望不啟羞、緣上帝之愛、由賜我之聖神、灌漑我心也、 | And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. |
| 6 | 蓋我儕尚弱時、基督依期爲不虔者死、 | For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. |
| 7 | 夫爲義人死者、僅或有之、爲善人死者、容或敢焉、 | For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. |
| 8 | 惟我尚爲罪人時、基督爲我死、上帝之愛於此而彰、 | But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. |
| 9 | 今我旣因其血而見義、不更由之得救而免怒乎、 | Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. |
| 10 | 蓋我儕尚爲敵時、由其子之死、得復和於上帝、旣已復和、更必於其生得救矣、 | For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. |
| 11 | 不第此也、旣因我主耶穌基督、樂夫上帝、卽今由之而得復和者也、○ | And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. |
| 12 | 是以罪由一人入世、因罪而有死、於是死延於衆、以皆獲罪也、 | Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: |
| 13 | 蓋律未立、罪已在世、但無律、則不謂之罪、 | (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. |
| 14 | 然自亞當至摩西、乃死乘權、以及非若亞當之罪而獲罪者、夫亞當乃後至者之對像也、 | Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. |
| 15 | 但愆尤不如恩賜、若以一人之愆尤、致衆死亡、則上帝之恩、及因一人耶穌基督之恩賜、尤溢於衆矣、 | But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. |
| 16 | 且以一人干罪、亦不如恩賜、蓋鞫由一人以定罪、恩賜則由多愆以見義也、 | And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. |
| 17 | 若以一人之愆、致死乘權、則受洪恩及義之賜者、更由一人耶穌基督、而乘權於生矣、 | For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) |
| 18 | 若然、則以一愆致衆定罪、亦以一義致衆見義而獲生、 | Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. |
| 19 | 蓋如以一人之逆而衆爲罪、亦以一人之順而衆爲義矣、 | For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. |
| 20 | 且律旣至、俾愆益增、罪旣增、而恩愈洪矣、 | Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: |
| 21 | 致如罪於死中乘權、恩亦若是由義乘權至於永生、惟因我主耶穌基督焉、 | That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. |
