| 1 | 夫聖神特言季世將有叛道者、務於惑世之神、鬼魔之教、 | Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; |
| 2 | 此乃由於誑者之僞、其心之良、若爲爇鐵所烙、 | Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; |
| 3 | 禁嫁娶、戒食物、卽上帝所造、使信而洞悉眞理之人、感謝而受者也、 | Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. |
| 4 | 蓋上帝所造皆美、若感謝而受、則無可棄、 | For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: |
| 5 | 以其由上帝道及祈禱而潔矣、○ | For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. |
| 6 | 爾以此提撕兄弟、卽爲耶穌基督善役、蒙育於道之言、及爾所率之善教焉、 | If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. |
| 7 | 當棄不經之語、老媼妄誕之談、而自練於敬虔、 | But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. |
| 8 | 蓋練乎身者其益小、惟敬虔則萬事皆益、而有今生來生之許、 | For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. |
| 9 | 誠哉是言、宜盡納之、 | This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. |
| 10 | 我儕爲此服勞勉力、因有望於維生之上帝、卽萬人之救者、於信者爲尤然、 | For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. |
| 11 | 爾當以此命人訓人、 | These things command and teach. |
| 12 | 勿以爾之年幼爲人輕視、惟以言行愛信與潔、爲信者之模楷、 | Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. |
| 13 | 專務誦讀、勸勉訓誨、以待我至、 | Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. |
| 14 | 勿忽爾衷之恩賜、乃由豫言、及長老按手而予者、 | Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. |
| 15 | 當勤於斯、專於斯、使爾之上達顯於衆、 | Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. |
| 16 | 愼乃身與乃訓、宜恆於斯、如是、則能救己及聽爾者矣、 | Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. |
