1 波斯王古列三年、有一事示但以理、稱伯提沙撒者、其事誠確、關乎大戰、但以理洞悉其事、明此異象、 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
2 維時、我但以理憂戚、歷三七日、 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
3 不御美食、酒肉不入於口、不膏我身、盈三七日之期、 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
4 正月二十四日、我在希底結大河之濱、 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;
5 舉目而觀、見一人衣枲衣、腰束烏法精金、 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
6 身若碧玉、面若閃電、目若火炬、手足若磨光之銅、聲若羣衆之聲、 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7 我但以理獨見此異象、偕我者未見之、惟大戰慄、遁逃自匿、 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
8 遺我獨在、見此大異象、身力無存、容色灰變、精力盡廢、 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9 然我猶聞其言之聲、旣聞之、則沉睡、面伏於地、 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
10 有手撫我使起、我以膝與掌、抵地而動搖、 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11 其人謂我曰、大蒙眷愛之但以理歟、我今奉遣就爾、當明我所語爾之言而起立、彼旣言此、我則顫然而立、 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12 又謂我曰、但以理歟、勿懼、自爾初日、決志欲明斯事、自卑於爾上帝前、爾言升聞矣、我因爾言而至、 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
13 惟波斯國之君、阻我二十一日、而君長之一米迦勒前來助我、我則無庸留於波斯王所、 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
14 今我來此、俾爾知爾民末日所遭之事、蓋此異象、歷多日始應也、 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
15 彼以此言告我、我則俯首視地、默爾無言、 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
16 有狀若人者捫我脣、我則啟口、謂立我前者曰、我主歟、我因異象、憂苦轉加我身、精力無存、 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
17 我主之僕、焉得與我主言乎、斯時我力盡廢、我氣俱無、 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.
18 又有狀若人者撫我、壯我、 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
19 曰、大蒙眷愛者歟、勿懼、願爾平康、強乃心、壯乃志、彼與我言、我則得力、曰、請我主言之、以爾壯我也、 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
20 彼曰、我之詣爾、爾知其故乎、今我將返、與波斯之君戰、我旣去、希臘之君必至、 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
21 惟眞經所載者、我將示爾、除爾君米迦勒外、無有奮勇、助我禦之者也、 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
