| 1 | 愚哉加拉太人、誰蠱惑爾乎、耶穌基督之釘十架、已明著於爾目前矣、 | O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? |
| 2 | 我試問爾、爾受聖神、由行律乎、抑由聞而信乎、 | This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? |
| 3 | 爾若是之愚乎、爾始之以聖神、今乃成之以形軀乎、 | Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? |
| 4 | 爾徒受若許之苦乎、果徒然乎、 | Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. |
| 5 | 夫施爾以聖神、且行異能於爾中者、由行律乎、抑由聞而信乎、 | He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? |
| 6 | 如亞伯拉罕信上帝、遂視爲義以歸之、 | Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. |
| 7 | 爾宜知之、凡由乎信者、乃亞伯拉罕之裔也、 | Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. |
| 8 | 且經豫知、上帝將使異邦由信見義、遂豫宣福音於亞伯拉罕云、諸邦將緣爾獲福、 | And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. |
| 9 | 是由乎信者、得與有信之亞伯拉罕同獲福矣、 | So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. |
| 10 | 凡由行律者皆服詛、記有之、不恆於律之所載而悉行者見詛、 | For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. |
| 11 | 無人於上帝前、因律見義也、明矣、蓋義者將由信而生、 | But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. |
| 12 | 夫律非本乎信、惟行之者於斯而生也、 | And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. |
| 13 | 基督已贖我儕脫律之詛、以其爲我儕服詛、記有之、凡懸於木者見詛也、 | Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: |
| 14 | 致亞伯拉罕之福在基督耶穌者、臨及異邦、俾我儕由信而得所許之聖神、○ | That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. |
| 15 | 兄弟乎、我依常情而言、人之約旣定、則無得增減之、 | Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. |
| 16 | 夫所許者、乃指亞伯拉罕及其裔而言、不曰諸裔、如指多人、惟指一人、且曰爾裔、卽基督也、 | Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. |
| 17 | 我謂上帝豫立之約、非四百三十年後之律所能廢、使所許者爲虛、 | And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. |
| 18 | 若嗣業由律、則不復由許、但上帝曾以許賜之亞伯拉罕矣、 | For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. |
| 19 | 然則律何爲耶、乃爲罪而設、待受許之裔至、且由天使於中保之手而訂、 | Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. |
| 20 | 夫中保非一人之中保、惟上帝乃一也、 | Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. |
| 21 | 然則律與上帝之許相反乎、非也、若賜以能致生之律、則義誠由律矣、 | Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. |
| 22 | 但經囿萬有於罪中、俾所許由信耶穌基督而賜諸信者、○ | But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. |
| 23 | 然信未著之先、我儕拘守律下、且爲所囿、以俟信之將顯焉、 | But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. |
| 24 | 如是、律爲我儕之塾師、引就基督、俾由信而見義、 | Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. |
| 25 | 但信旣著、不復在塾師之下矣、 | But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. |
| 26 | 蓋爾曹由信、咸爲上帝子、卽賴基督耶穌也、 | For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. |
| 27 | 凡受洗歸基督者、已衣基督也、 | For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. |
| 28 | 無分猶太希利尼、爲奴自主、或男或女、蓋爾曹於基督耶穌中、皆爲一也、 | There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. |
| 29 | 若屬基督、則爲亞伯拉罕裔、依所許而爲嗣子矣、 | And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. |
