It's Wrong To Favor the Guilty
It's selfish and stupid to think only of yourself and to sneer at people who have sense.
Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
Fools have no desire to learn, instead they would rather give their own opinion. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
Wrongdoing leads to shame and disgrace. When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
Words of wisdom are a stream that flows from a deep fountain. The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
It's wrong to favor the guilty and keep the innocent from getting justice. It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
Foolish talk will get you into a lot of trouble. A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
Saying foolish things is like setting a trap to destroy yourself. A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
There's nothing so delicious as the taste of gossip! It melts in your mouth. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
Being lazy is no different from being a troublemaker. He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
The Lord is a mighty tower where his people can run for safety— The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
the rich think their money is a wall of protection. The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
Pride leads to destruction; humility leads to honor. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
It's stupid and embarrassing to give an answer before you listen. He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
Being cheerful helps when you are sick, but nothing helps when you give up. The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
Everyone with good sense wants to learn. The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
A gift will get you in to see anyone. A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
You may think you have won your case in court, until your opponent speaks. He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
Drawing straws is one way to settle a difficult case. The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
Making up with a friend you have offended is harder than breaking through a city wall. A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
Make your words good— you will be glad you did. A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
Words can bring death or life! Talk too much, and you will eat everything you say. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
A man's greatest treasure is his wife— she is a gift from the Lord. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.
The poor must beg for help, but the rich can give a harsh reply. The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
Some friends don't help, but a true friend is closer than your own family. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
