Eliphaz Continues / Call Out for Help Job, call out for help and see if an angel comes!
Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn? |
Envy and jealousy will kill a stupid fool. | For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.
I have seen fools take root. But God sends a curse, suddenly uprooting them | I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
and leaving their children helpless in court. | His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
Then hungry and greedy people gobble up their crops and grab their wealth. | Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.
Our suffering isn't caused by the failure of crops; | Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
it's all part of life, like sparks shooting skyward. | Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
Job, if I were you, I would ask God for help. | I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:
His miracles are marvelous, more than we can count. | Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
God sends showers on earth and waters the fields. | Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:
He protects the sorrowful and lifts up those who have been disgraced. * | To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
God swiftly traps the wicked | He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.
in their own evil schemes, and their wisdom fails. | He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.
Darkness is their only companion, hiding their path at noon. | They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.
God rescues the needy from the words of the wicked and the fist of the mighty. | But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
The poor are filled with hope, and injustice is silenced. | So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
Consider Yourself Fortunate Consider yourself fortunate if God All-Powerful chooses to correct you.
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: |
He may cause injury and pain, but he will bandage and heal your cuts and bruises. | For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
God will protect you from harm, no matter how often trouble may strike. | He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
In times of war and famine, God will keep you safe. | In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
You will be sheltered, without fear of hurtful words or any other weapon. | Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
You will laugh at the threat of destruction and famine. And you won't be afraid of wild animals— | At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
they will no longer be fierce, and your rocky fields will become friendly. | For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
Your home will be secure, and your sheep will be safe. | And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
You will have more descendants than there are blades of grass on the face of the earth. | Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
You will live a very long life, and your body will be strong until the day you die. | Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
Our experience has proven these things to be true, so listen and learn. | Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
