Job Continues His Prayer / Life Is Short and Sorrowful
Life is short and sorrowful for every living soul.
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
2 We are flowers that fade and shadows that vanish. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
3 And so, I ask you, God, why pick on me? And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
4 There's no way a human can be completely pure. Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
5 Our time on earth is brief; the number of our days is already decided by you. Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
6 Why don't you leave us alone and let us find some happiness while we toil and labor? Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.

When a Tree Is Chopped Down
When a tree is chopped down, there is always the hope that it will sprout again.
For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
8 Its roots and stump may rot, Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
9 but at the touch of water, it sprouts once again. Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
10 Humans are different— we die, and that's the end. But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
11 We are like streams and lakes after the water has gone; As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
12 we fall into the sleep of death, never to rise again, until the sky disappears. So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
13 Please hide me, God, deep in the ground— and when you are angry no more, remember to rescue me. O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
14
Will We Humans Live Again?
Will we humans live again? I would gladly suffer and wait for my time.
If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
15 My Creator, you would want me; you would call out, and I would answer. Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
16 You would take care of me, but not count my sins— For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
17 you would put them in a bag, tie it tight, and toss them away. My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
18 But in the real world, mountains tumble, and rocks crumble; And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
19 streams wear away stones and wash away soil. And you destroy our hopes! The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
20 You change the way we look, then send us away, wiped out forever. Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
21 We never live to know if our children are praised or disgraced. His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
22 We feel no pain but our own, and when we mourn, it's only for ourselves. But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
