The Punishes the Guilty
Lord God, you punish the guilty. Show what you are like and punish them now.
O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
You judge the earth. Come and help us! Pay back those proud people for what they have done. Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
How long will the wicked celebrate and be glad? Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
All of those cruel people strut and boast, How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
and they crush and wound your chosen nation, Lord. They break in pieces thy people, O Lord, and afflict thine heritage.
They murder widows, foreigners, and orphans. They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
Then they say, “The Lord God of Jacob doesn't see or know.” Yet they say, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
Can't you fools see? Won't you ever learn? Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
God gave us ears and eyes! Can't he hear and see? He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
God instructs the nations and gives knowledge to us all. Won't he also correct us? He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
The Lord knows how useless our plans really are. The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Our Lord, you bless everyone that you instruct and teach by using your Law. Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law;
You give them rest from their troubles, until a pit can be dug for the wicked. That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
You won't turn your back on your chosen nation. For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
Justice and fairness will go hand in hand, and all who do right will follow along. But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Who will stand up for me against those cruel people? Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
If you had not helped me, Lord, I would soon have gone to the land of silence. Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
When I felt my feet slipping, you came with your love and kept me steady. When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.
And when I was burdened with worries, you comforted me and made me feel secure. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
But you are opposed to dishonest lawmakers Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
who gang up to murder innocent victims. They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
You, Lord God, are my fortress, that mighty rock where I am safe. But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
You will pay back my enemies, and you will wipe them out for the evil they did. And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off.
