(A psalm by David for Jeduthun, the music leader.) / God Is Powerful and Kind
Only God can save me, and I calmly wait for him.
Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.
God alone is the mighty rock that keeps me safe and the fortress where I am secure. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
I feel like a shaky fence or a sagging wall. How long will all of you attack and assault me? How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.
You want to bring me down from my place of honor. You love to tell lies, and when your words are kind, hatred hides in your heart. They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
Only God gives inward peace, and I depend on him. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
God alone is the mighty rock that keeps me safe, and he is the fortress where I feel secure. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
God saves me and honors me. He is that mighty rock where I find safety. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Trust God, my friends, and always tell him each of your concerns. God is our place of safety. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
We humans are only a breath; none of us are truly great. All of us together weigh less than a puff of air. Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.
Don't trust in violence or depend on dishonesty or rely on great wealth. Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
I heard God say two things: “I am powerful, God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.
and I am very kind.” The Lord rewards each of us according to what we do. Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.
