절Contemporary English Version (2006)King James Version
Our bodies are like tents that we live in here on earth. But when these tents are destroyed, we know that God will give each of us a place to live. These homes will not be buildings someone has made, but they are in heaven and will last forever. For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
While we are here on earth, we sigh because we want to live in that heavenly home. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
We want to put it on like clothes and not be naked. If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
These tents we now live in are like a heavy burden, and we groan. But we don't do this just because we want to leave these bodies that will die. It is because we want to change them for bodies that will never die. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
God is the one who makes all this possible. He has given us his Spirit to make us certain he will do it. Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
So always be cheerful! As long as we are in these bodies, we are away from the Lord. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
But we live by faith, not by what we see. (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
We should be cheerful, because we would rather leave these bodies and be at home with the Lord. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
But whether we are at home with the Lord or away from him, we still try our best to please him. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
After all, Christ will judge each of us for the good or the bad that we do while living in these bodies. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Bringing People to God
We know what it means to respect the Lord, and we encourage everyone to turn to him. God himself knows what we are like, and I hope you also know what kind of people we are.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
We are not trying once more to brag about ourselves. But we want you to be proud of us, when you are with those who are not sincere and brag about what others think of them. For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
If we seem out of our minds, it is between God and us. But if we are in our right minds, it is for your good. For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
We are ruled by Christ's love for us. We are certain that if one person died for everyone else, then all of us have died. For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
And Christ did die for all of us. He died so we would no longer live for ourselves, but for the one who died and was raised to life for us. And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
We are careful not to judge people by what they seem to be, though we once judged Christ in this way. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
God has done it all! He sent Christ to make peace between himself and us, and he has given us the work of making peace between himself and others. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
What we mean is that God was in Christ, offering peace and forgiveness to the people of this world. And he has given us the work of sharing his message about peace. To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
We were sent to speak for Christ, and God is begging you to listen to our message. We speak for Christ and sincerely ask you to make peace with God. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Christ never sinned! But God treated him as a sinner, so Christ could make us acceptable to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
