1 Bože silný pomst, Hospodine, Bože silný pomst, zastkvěj se. O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
2 Zdvihni se, ó soudce vší země, a dej odplatu pyšným. Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
3 Až dokud bezbožní, Hospodine, až dokud bezbožní budou plésati, Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
4 Žváti a hrdě mluviti, honosíce se, všickni činitelé nepravosti? How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
5 Lid tvůj, Hospodine, potírati a dědictví tvé bědovati? They break in pieces thy people, O Lord, and afflict thine heritage.
6 Vdovy a příchozí mordovati, a sirotky hubiti, They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
7 Říkajíce: Nehledíť na to Hospodin, aniž tomu rozumí Bůh Jákobův? Yet they say, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
8 Rozumějte, ó vy hovadní v lidu, a vy blázni, kdy srozumíte? Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 Zdali ten, jenž učinil ucho, neslyší? A kterýž stvořil oko, zdali nespatří? He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 Zdali ten, jenž tresce národy, nebude kárati, kterýž učí lidi umění? He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
11 Hospodinť zná myšlení lidská, že jsou pouhá marnost. The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
12 Blahoslavený jest ten muž, kteréhož ty cvičíš, Hospodine, a z zákona svého jej vyučuješ. Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law;
13 Abys mu způsobil pokoj před časy zlými, až by za tím vykopána byla bezbožníku jáma. That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
14 Neboť neopustí Hospodin lidu svého, a dědictví svého nezanechá, For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
15 Ale až k spravedlnosti navrátí se soud, a za ním všickni upřímého srdce. But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16 Kdož by se byl o mne zasadil proti zlostníkům? Kdo by se byl za mne postavil proti těm, jenž páší nepravost? Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Kdyby mi Hospodin nebyl ku pomoci, tudíž by se byla octla duše má v mlčení. Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
18 Již jsem byl řekl: Klesla noha má, ale milosrdenství tvé, ó Hospodine, zdrželo mne. When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.
19 Ve množství přemyšlování mých u vnitřnosti mé, tvá potěšování obveselovala duši mou. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
20 Zdaliž se k tobě přitovaryší stolice převráceností těch, jenž vynášejí nátisk mimo spravedlnost, Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
21 Jenž se shlukují proti duši spravedlivého, a krev nevinnou odsuzují? They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
22 Ale Hospodin jest mým hradem vysokým, a Bůh můj skalou útočiště mého. But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
23 Onť obrátí na ně nepravost jejich, a zlostí jejich zahladí je, zahladí je Hospodin Bůh náš. And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off.
